Someone was mentioning Abandonware in another thread and I was reminded of this old groovy game. It was initially sold as a freeware ZZT enhancement/clone but was abandoned to the public after a while and a open-source community has updated it regularly to work with modern OSs.
It features 16bit color, text-mode graphics with the ability to swap out system "fonts", Tracked and Sampled music and a build in world/game editor along with an enthusiastic community of people making games for it.

I don't like DF BECAUSE of the bad graphics. I tolerate the bad graphics because of DF. There's a point at which one man can't possibly hope to make a game graphically complete... and I think the argument can be made that it's pretty easy to reach that point when you're simulating the whole goddamn world down to the minorest character's left sock and right femur.

The point I'm making, give more info. "Into DF for the graphics" is a poor description of pretty much everyone who ever played DF.
Re: MegaZeux: A Game Engine for those into DF for the Graphics
Yeah, we play(ed) DF becuase it was probably the most in depth game ever created. It was so indepth becuase it didn't have to worry about graphics so that the two devs just went into a ridiculous depth for the gameplay.SwiftSpear wrote:It isn't though.SinbadEV wrote:Subject is sarcasm/exaggeration.SwiftSpear wrote:I don't like DF BECAUSE of the bad graphics. I find ascii graphics pleasant to read. And that's not ascii like DF.
