Reaction Quake (realistic Quake 3 mod) is my all time favorite FPS for lanpartys. But you need to know how to strafe n shit to make it insanely fun.

Silencer, slippers, kevlar west and other amazing stuff makes this game so interesting in my mind. But u rly do need ppl who are used to playing FPS games and aren't scared of some console binding

i war 2 looks interesting but i cant find much information on its multiplayer game play

pretty much standard fps game modes iirc (ctf, deathmatch, team deathmatch, and i think theres a fox and hounds mode - one player is teh fox, and the hounds have to kill him, the player who gets the kill becomes the new fox.) also, full physics, and a Battletech/Aerotech mod!

tribes games kick ass, but the royal king is farcry 1- assault mode.
with about 10 players, it blows every other lan fps away, even CS

You aren't missing much. I had some fun with Nemo and Day on it, but... eh. I guess I enjoy it more than CS, but that isn't hard to manage.

Quake III will always be hilarious in LAN. I generally went for Doom II though.

my favourite FPS game of all time is a half life mod called "The Specialists"

frags/points works a bit differently in that game, you get score multipliers for doing combos... to explain further, the game is based around max-payne style physics where you can do massive leaps and slides along the ground as well as the classic "bullet time" which slows down gameplay for a few seconds.

examples of scoring points with combos
kill another player with a gun : 1 point for the kill
kill another player with a kitana : 2 points for the kill
kill another player while leaping through the air : 1 point for the kill * 1 point for the stunt bonus

if you can kill nine people in a row without dying, and no specialist exists, you become the specialist, which makes your health regenerate and every combo gets another *2 multiplier added to it...

so technically you could get a combo like : kill someone with a throwing knife (x3) while sliding backwards away from them (x3) as the specialist (x2) so you'd get 12 points.

it's rare to see someone with a negative ratio in this game.

loadout of weapons is customizable, you have 5 slots to fill, handguns and knives take a single slot, most other weapons take 2 slots... your character moves more slowly according to what you're carrying, which makes it actually viable to pwn with the knife if that's the only thing you're carrying.

there are some pretty cool little extra features in this game, like being able to kick guns out of peoples hands as well as fight using kung fu only.

the mod comes with built-in bots so you can ensure a super busy fragfest.
