New - Need some help

Hello guys.
Before I ask I have to say that um, I'm pretty new to all of this, as in, never really played a game before, or well, these kind of games I just play chess, well anyway, I would really appreciate it if someone would explain to me how the whole thing works, what is this game about? Do I have to kill and destroy? Find things? Build stuff?

That might be a really stupid question but like I had no other choice, I read all the help page here and the about page and even the wikipedia page, it explains what should I do and how to start and stuff, but it doesn't answer my question.

unfortunately, we don't really have a tutorial, so it's best if you know someone who could explain this all to you - but with a little determination you should be able to learn the basics by yourself.

I have never tried this myself, but in the lobby type "/j #newbies".

Spring is a RTS engine. Its a Real Time Strategy game engine. There are multiple games that can be played on the engine, and currently, the most popular games on this engine are call XTA, Balanced Annihilation, Final Frontier, Crap Annihilation, Starwars TA 1.0, and Lolimod. All of these games involve the following:

• Creating an economy that provides energy and metal
  Building mobile combat units, more economy, and stationary defense with energy and metal
  Attacking and obliterating the enemy

This is an overly-simplified description of RTS gaming. In reality, the games are very enjoyable but complex systems involving alot of strategy. You must decide how to get more resources, what to spend your resources on, what types of units and buildings to make, how to attack you enemy, and when to attack. For someone interested in chess, it will be very fun to learn, however keep in mind it will be challenging.

I am up for VERY educational 1v1s if you are interested in playing Spring with me.
