Is there a rts in the current style?

Post by Sringsprung »

I'm looking for a rts that has the typical gui style of buildings across the bottom, and the create unit buttons there too. Being able to click on the minimap to go somewhere on the map is a really nice feature too, not having to drag the screen across the map to get back when an attack occurs, or build another place.

Does anything like that exist? How hard would it be to build?

You can jump to a place on the minimap with middle mouse click.

With IceUI you could probably get the build bar to sit across the bottom of the screen.

As far as I know, everything aside from the bar being horizontal across the bottom instead of vertical across the side is already in spring. It sounds like you're baiting for someone to say starcraft, but honestly, learning a few new buttons isn't remotely significant when comparing the massive number of things the spring GUI does better than the starcraft GUI.

There's a few things I desperately want to fix about the spring GUI that aren't addressed yet, but having a full and robust set of features is not one of them.
