Zell, if it was only that simple. Sadly there is no such option in the settings menu, am @ work currently so not able to get you a screenshot, perhaps it has something to do with the fact i run it on Fedora 9.
edit: nevermind, i think i need glasses. thx :D

People seem to get butt hurt about this, why not add a check box to allow fps mode. Like it already dose with the limit d gun to starting positions or diminish metal maker returns.ZellSF wrote:I hate the current FPS abuses problems already (extra range)... I vote no :/
Seams every so often, somebody proposes the improvement to the fps system. It definitely would be awesome if it was improved. I think I├óÔé¼Ôäóve seen it all worked out conceptually, hell recently the chicken shooter mod thing has proven it can be done. But as far as being implemented into the spring engine, the people in charge insist it├óÔé¼Ôäós just a gimmick, so maybe it never will.
But it├óÔé¼Ôäós given a lot of people the realization that some time in the future, maybe in our lifetime; somebody├óÔé¼Ôäós going to cross a good RTS, with a good shooter. and it├óÔé¼Ôäós going to be the best game of all time.

Even if only controlling one unit isnt that much of a disadvantage: Ever heard people whine about aimbots in an FPS? In spring, all units have them. (You can let the unit aim while you drive, though.)ZellSF wrote:Controlling just one unit isn't as much a disadvantage as you think and giving FPS players any advantage whatsoever in a strategy game seems silly.

The point of FPS in spring is to override the aimbots...Jasper1984 wrote:Even if only controlling one unit isnt that much of a disadvantage: Ever heard people whine about aimbots in an FPS? Exactly, the Spring aimbots don't do smart things like dgun krows and aim at 45 degrees to acheive 3x actual range.Tribulex wrote:The point of FPS in spring is to override the aimbots...

My guess is that ruhtraeel doesn't know that Spring is already moddable. In case he will read his own thread:ruhtraeel wrote:2. A Game Editor, such as being able to create custom games, like in Starcraft, with turret defence, etc. Also the ability to change how fast the unit walks, fires, the range of the weapon, damage, etc.
The Game Editor to change how fast the unit walks, fires, the range of the weapon, damage, etc... is called Notepad.

Ok, more specifically: /mods/*.sdz can be opened with WinZip, WinRar, 7-zip, and even bare WindowsXP, as they are just renamed zip files. (Might have to tick that option to see files suffix in your files explorer).
/mods/*.sd7 can be opened by 7-zip (which is just like WinZip but free and better), for they are just renamed 7z files.
Once you have unzipped the mod:
- To change how fast an unit walk, open the file /units/unitname.fbi with ANY text editor.
- To change how fast the unit fire, the range of weapon, damage, etx.., open the file /units/weaponame.tdf with ANY text editor.
- I suggest editing the file modinfo.tdf to give another name to the mod.
- You then can either rezipe the folder or rename it to whatever.sdd
It's been done, several times, already. And Natural Selection 2.1 do was the best game of all time*, in my opinion! Yet NS itself is merely a clone of Tremulous. And also have a look at Savage Battle for Newerth, and well I forgot what the others were.Bartosh wrote:But it├óÔé¼Ôäós given a lot of people the realization that some time in the future, maybe in our lifetime; somebody├óÔé¼Ôäós going to cross a good RTS, with a good shooter. and it├óÔé¼Ôäós going to be the best game of all time.
