very slow loading

Post by chtxdrgn »

I can enter the lobby, enter a game, but when it starts loading i start to have problems. It's load time is past 10 minutes. (it usually gets stuck on loading map). I've tried the lowest settings possible, different maps, and I've tried using the search function on the forums to find a fix, but I can't. I also remember using an earlier version of Spring before and I had the same problem.

Note: Vista also tells me, after a long time loading, that the program isn't responding, and i end up closing Spring there. (if it isn't responding and I close it, is that a crash?)

I run Vista Home Premium, 1022MB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon X1400, Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2250 @ 1.73GHz (2 CPUs), ~1.7GHz

May I receive any help? I don't know what other information i need to provide.

I have also a slow loading time. I deleted all my paths, but I don't think it should take three minutes for me to path a medium-sized map.. Last spring version, it was a lot shorter.

Anybody have a solution?

Deleting your paths? If that helps it load faster, tell me how to do that @____@

There's an issue related to having more players in the game than start positions on the map. There is an updated spring.exe if you can find the link (I did a quick search but can't remember where I got it from) which solves the problem as long as the host uses the update, or you can just play maps with enough start positions until 0.77b6 is released.

Thank you very much for the tip, come to think of it I installed many 1v1 maps along with the installations. Is there any way to find out how many start positions there are on a map?

(sorry for asking so many questions >___<)

Edit: It seems now I can get to loading tiles in 15 minutes, but that is still too long.

Just click the minimap in the lobby screen, the start positions will be shown. I'd give you the link to the updated .exe but I can't seem to find it now.

Yes, please, don't worry about finding me the exe; i have time to spare anyway (and if I wanted to find it, I'd scour this site for it). I'll wait for the next update. I'm just waiting now for the guy to tell me how to delete paths...? (like he's going to respond soon)

Thanks again. :3

C:\Program Files\Spring\maps\paths

Delete everything in that folder, but I don't really see how that's supposed to help loading times...

Anyway, load the game and after it has loaded (or crashed, I guess), quit it and open:
C:\Program Files\Spring\infolog.txt
And paste *all* of the text in the file here.
