LOOOOOWWW FPS

Post by [LBF]Vache »

Hey there

i'm writing here cause i just installed last version of spring on my fresssh debian sid install.

i installed spring on ubuntu before, and had my share of problems, wich i all resolved (:D).

Now on debian it's running almost perfect, except i've got some BIG slowdowns after 2 minutes of game. My fps is usually 70, but every 10 seconds it goes down to 5 or 10 then climb back.

i've got a 2.26.6-RT11 kernel i compiled myself, aswell as the drivers for my 8400M card ,wich are 173.xxx.something

No need to say it's horrible and i'm gonna kill myself if i don't find a solution.

The problems is looking strangely like the one i had on Windows, where you have to deactivate threaded optimizations on the nvidia drivers, or multi-core support. I can't be sure it's the problem though, but i don't see any other leads

BUT i don't know if you can setup the nvidia drivers to do this kind of things on 'nux.

Please help me :(

1. try running with negative nice or renicing the process
2. disable anything compiz-related
3. run in a window with top side-by-side and see if there's anything interfering.

to update again for anyone who would be watching this thread ..

i tried taskset-ing the spring process on 1 core only, and tried "export __GL_SINGLE_THREADED=1"

both are unsuccessfull

i'm beginning to run out of ideas, quite ...

Does this problems appears with the NOTA mod ?
Under windows, i had a problem like this, with CA & BA, but nout with NOTA. I've fixed it by desactivating the lups lua widget...

Hey...

I have this bug too in facts. =/

But under NOTA too... And Desactivating Lups doesn't change anything.
I'm under an ATI card, so it's seems to come from the Spring Engine.
The game is freezing every "x" seconds. It's very annoying. It affects more NOTA than CA, but i think all mods are concerned, so it's surely come from the Spring Engine. When the during time of the game is getting longer, it's freezing with a less "x" seconds. It's VERY annoying, and i'm not the only one guy having this problem...
