A great example of a good player and a bad player
And I don't mean skill!
Skill seems to be cheap around the lobby...
Honor, and respect is shorter on hand.
I thought I'd upload a demo of a player who did something quite shocking... what most would agree is 'the right thing to do'
I know what he did was small, but his intent speaks greater.
Anyway, if you're bored, or would like to see something in spring that you haven't in a while, go have a look at the replay.

Re: A great example of a good player and a bad player
Did he sacrifice his commander for the good of his team? :)
Re: A great example of a good player and a bad player
First of all, what Pullapitko was nothing out of ordinary, if he didn't remove his commander it would cause a restart of game because of fucked up start positions (if the players are at least bit sane).
Second, considering he had 2 commanders, he didn't do anything special.
[LAP]BattleMonk on the other hand did a very skillful move and killed both a commander and a whole base with a single air transporter. During which you whined like true newbie that he should not do it.
The one without honor and respect in this game is you because you had the nerve to belittle your own ally and give out information for no real reason at all, and even gave your whole base to enemy. You are the newbie and disrespectful asshat that doesn't honor the game or the players in it. On top of all you even make this post to show us how good it is to behave like total newbies.
Good job sir.

I pity the red player. All he wanted was a good game, which was ruined by a noob who was allergic to (an ally) combombing (an enemy).
On the battlefield there are no gentlemen. Do not confuse with sportsmanship.

If there is a problem with the game, change the rules of the game, dont make gentlemens agreements.
BA offers team com ends for this reason.

I'm surprised you find it so ordinary, in my experience it's rare for that to occur if he didn't remove his commander it would cause a restart of game because of fucked up start positions (if the players are at least bit sane).Regret wrote:First of all, what Pullapitko was nothing out of ordinary

Indeed by this point the game had ended and I find it surprising you don't realise that. Don't assume that I did not realize what I was doing at that point.and give out information for no real reason at all, and even gave your whole base to enemy.
I wonder what you're defining 'newbie' as?By this time the game was During which you whined like true newbie that he should not do it.
If you define the rejection of no-holds-barred gaming as a newbie move, then we must all do our utmost to find every possible advantage against the enemy to be considered anywhere near the grade you define. Until we do we are newbies.
So I'll go make a smurf account every time I play so the autobalance puts me on a team with the advantage to win because saktoth joined putting the system out of balance with his mega star power. Do I understand accurately?
But to define what the vast majority of players in the spring lobby do, it is not a professional tournament. There are no prizes, there is only casual gaming and socialization. It seems as if you are advocating all players
That's excatly why I took the time out of my day to thank Pulla for his actions, and took the time to make this post to exclaim that point. You are the newbie and disrespectful asshat that doesn't honor the game or the players in it.
I obviously have no respect for the players?
A fair point! But we are all people. I regard it as a disappointing time that we must rely on hard and direct rules for games to work.If there is a problem with the game, change the rules of the game, dont make gentlemens agreements.
Re: A great example of a good player and a bad player
It's called common sense. When start positions get bugged, you should leave the game so others leave too, and restart the game. It's rare people carry on playing after this bug, mostly just newbies that are too dumb to realize the game is fucked up with the bug. So yea, I find it ordinary.Maverick wrote:I'm surprised you find it so ordinary
The game still had players playing it, which means the game did not end yet. I'm not assuming anything here, just stating the facts.Maverick wrote:Indeed by this point the game had ended and I find it surprising you don't realise that. I'm not defining anything, the term is subjective. In your case I called you a newbie because of your actions and words.Maverick wrote:I wonder what you're defining 'newbie' as?
Pretty much. You did give your whole base to enemy, so obviously you have no respect for your allies.Maverick wrote:I obviously have no respect for the players?
tl;dr: learn to play the game newb

I agree players should be allowed to do anything the interface allows them too. Hell, they can add lua scripts to do more. Only rule is that you are not allowed to violate the games physics, like seeing what you shouldnt be able too. (Unless something is clearly an exploit.)Saktoth wrote:If there is a problem with the game, change the rules of the game, dont make gentlemens agreements.
Of course lua shouldn't go as far as being an AI that does everything..

You defined RTS playing . GGthen we must all do our utmost to find every possible advantage against the enemy
Now you're confusing the game , and the lobby. At the time of now, smurfing is considered by a majority of people like a kind of cheating, enough at least do make devellopers wonder about how they could stop people from cheating. Yet still lots of people do what you're talking aboutSo I'll go make a smurf account every time I play so the autobalance puts me on a team with the advantage to win because saktoth joined putting the system out of balance with his mega star power. Do I understand accurately?

On the other hand, if air transports can still grab coms after 1000000 gazillions of reactions like this one, it's because Noize, maintainer of Balanced Annihilation, wanted it to stay so. He stated it a few times, even.
So it's actually PART OF THE RULES, you newb

Giving out information OTOH , as a spec, or as a player, even if spring can't stop it since it doesn't have the ability to understand human language, is thoroughly considered cheating/ruining games among the rts community.
You will probably find nobody saying u the contrary , at least seriously.

ROFLMAO Bwahaha... I'm sorry, this is too funny.A fair point! But we are all people. I regard it as a disappointing time that we must rely on hard and direct rules for games to work.
In chess can pawns capture directly in front of themselves? In checkers can my normal piece move backwards? In Scrabble can I pick and choose which letters I want?
No, no and no. What makes a game is rules. Without rules its not a game.
And furthermore, I find it disappointing to rely on an honor system, because people in general, are not honorable

Re: A great example of a good player and a bad player
+1, no reason why you couldn't have restarted considering you knew there was a problem before everyone readied up. When this happens, I usually have the team do a shits and giggles combomb for entertainment, before everyone laughs it off and just restarts.Regret wrote:tl;dr: learn to play the game newb

Pissed off a moderator is the usual answer to any 'Why banned?' question.
