spring 0.77b4 = very slow alt-tab

I noticed that in 0.77b4 verit takes me 20-40 sec to swich back in spring when game is running.

mod: ba6.5 , small divide, fresh install
nvidia 9500gt, 2g ram, E8400

this is not gamebreaking error, just annoying.


Any solutions?

full screen allways. When i alttab with 500 units (give all), it takes 4 sec to get back in with lups disabled. With enabled 30s

windowed switches in instant, no problems. I have latest nv drivers. It never happend on 0.76. Hmm seems might not be only lups fault, as with giveall even with lups disabled switches 30 secs .

iirc windows tries to force a fullscreen window's memory into swap if your ram is full or something weird when you alt-tab so it takes a while?

how much ram do you have and how much is used when running spring? (ctrl+shift+escape, performance tab, green bar in the middle right labeled page file usage or something)

Meh i still have 1 g free ram, spring uses only 150mB. Even with disabled lua and giveall it switches like 20 sec. With luaon + lups even more... duno what it could be. I am IT expert btw.

windows is overzealous about forcing fullscreen applications' memory into swap when they lose focus.

this happens with a lot of games

what is interesting is that XTA95 and NOTA1.51 tab in in 1 sec. while BA65 or CA with just air test figters need 20s+.

So its mod related, i suspect some gadgets as it does work slow even with lua turned off from spring settings.

Cant we make windowed mode where the window fills whole screen without any frames etc buttons etc? So basically its fake fullscreen by using whole screen size of window without any crap in the window.

I recommend using windowed mode, no matter what. Ive also got problems with fullscreen, which why im using windowed mode now, much more easier: can surf on web and chat on msn at same time and play too (or spec).
