Unit's changing forms!

Okay. listen.

We take a unit. We activate it, do something silly, push a button, whatever...
THEN it change's into an emety unit that only has a animation.
THEN it changes to another unit!

Bye adding this plus a way to restric a unit from ''transforming'' on the wrong places(like transforming a plane into a unit in the air), we could do ton's of stuff!

For example...

Planes that land and transforms into HLT.

Buildings that stop producing stuff and starts walking.

A slow unit with hig armor that transforms into a fast unit and hig attack power but low armor.

Land unit's that grow wings or go airborne on command... Can anyone say: ''jetpack peewee''?

planes that transform into ampious tanks and roll into the coast line with added armor.

Con units that switch from attack and building.

Con units with the abilty to make them self into a tiny imoblie hig armor things.

Blalalblbalbllballbalbal...




Proably something for the new scripting langue, but i bet they (the SY's )alredy thougt of this...

oh well, it would be damn awesome, that's all...

Err... well, I don't see the point of this, but you can do it already with a simple press of On/Off.

Check the plane's height from the script, if it's not at ground level, it can't transform. (so, again, can already be done)
For example...

Planes that land and transforms into HLT.
Seems rather stupid, but could probably be done. Would probably have to make sure the plane is set to hold position though.

Could really already be done, since mobiles can build mobiles in Spring just fine. Don't know about factories though, but I don't know if anyone has tried giving them the ability to move (other than zwzsg's wings :P).

Could be done, except for speed at the moment. I should finish my work on doing set speed from the script one of these days.

Kind of already possible, though the peewee would only spawn the jetpack over water. It's been done in OTA.

Sounds stupider than the plane->HLT thing above... I honestly see no point in this no matter how I look at it. The whole point of the amphib balance is that they are slow while underwater. If you want to circumvent that, do it the right way and use air or sea transports to drop the tanks off off-shore at least, instead of having a stupidly complex unit that's completely unbelievable.

Can do the high armor already, not exactly sure why you would want a con unit statue though... serves no purpose at all.

So yeah, as you can see, nearly everything you mentioned is 100% possible already, and none of those are even under 90% possible...

can you airdrop amphibs into the water? Now THAT would be cool, no more 1hr long missions instead get airsuperioty and drop them near the enemies island!!! :D

You could in OTA at least. I admit I haven't tried in Spring. I just know I've dropped my comm in the water before in OTA.

nah islands are protected by AA dropping them in the water would rock! i might just try it!
EDIT: Nope u can't drop stuff into water atm :(

Yes, but perhaps Spring can add nice and clean tag to make them instead of dirty hack (take no offence^^)?

You want imposibole? FINE, i'll give you imposibole.



A peewee, with a jetpack, that can on command start flying and lose hp and firepower but can fly just like a brawler. BUT when on the ground it can fight good, but can't go over stuff like water or cliffs ect.

A plane that transforms in the AIR into a faster version of it self with no wepons.

Subs that transforms into planes.

A unit who becomes 2 Units on command!

A slow, powerless can with no wepons that expodes on a small area, but can trasform and be a FAST self-destruktor.

And i got no imangination at all!

Nah, since if you want it to be automatic. When close to water or a cliff they can't use, they start flying, or when your krogoth has transformed into a standstill factory with no wepons and want it to transform back WHEN using the unit switch thingy. (and yes, this can proably be done when hacking shit to i guess -.-)

add one more unit concept to the list: Stealth units that transform into trees or wreckage, or into harmless buildings. (enemy sends Pyros to raid a solar farm only to find solars morph into K-bots and ambush them....)

Homeworld Cataclysm had somthing like that, Mimic ships, that could just walk right into an unprepared enemy base as a resourcer, hide in asteroid fields as a rock, fake the enemy into retreat at the sight of a mimic'd battlefleet or the such.

Great fun there. :lol:
