This might help you:
"Whenever I try to launch spring, I get 'GL_ARB_ENV_combine not found'"
Your graphics card or drivers do not have proper openGL (the rendering library Spring uses) support.
Various combinations of:

* Older graphics cards
* ATI graphics cards
* Old graphics drivers
* Using the Vista operating system

- can cause this issue. Try updating your graphics drivers, upgrading to XP or Linux, or obtaining a moderately new Nvidia graphics card.

Vista should be removed from that list fo possible causes as any occurrences under Vista can almost certainly eb attributed to other items in the list.

But its most likely you do not have sufficient drivers installed to play games properly. Or you've been messing around and have done something like modifying drivers or 'downgrading' drivers without running cleanup tools.

Hey man, I'll try and break it down for you.

Spring started as an engine to run content(units etc) from TA. It is an engine with no specific game but many games you can play. It is a very flexible engine.

Spring has mods and games.

Mods: modification of the game.

Games: Projects that have all of their own content created from scratch. Most of the spring games are in progress because games take a long time to develop.

*A: What most people here call *A would be the projects like, CA, Xta, NOTA, BOTA, BA, SA, you see the pattern I am sure. They are all TA mods, meaning they are based on the game total annihilation. There is some controversy to this because the content was stolen from TA but most of us own TA so we don't care.

GL_arb..: can be resolved usually by turning of unit reflections in your settings. Don't try any of the fancy water if you cannot have reflections you cannot have stuff like dynamic water.

Any other questions man?

Turns out NVidia just recently released a driver in September so I got that.

How do I delete old drivers though? I think I've tried doing it before but could never figure it out.

Oh, and the fact that I can't watch any games because I have to download BA is kind of anoying...

Think of it like this:

Spring engine is a framework that allows different games or mods to be run using it. These mods are available for download from various Spring file mirrors such as spring.jobjol.nl or unknown-files.net, or using the autodownloader (which does not work for everyone). Regardless of what mod you get, you can engage in multiplayer battles with other people who also have your mod by running the lobby client and connecting to the official server, where a list of ALL multiplayer games, regardless of which mod is being played, is hosted.

99% of all mods can be run on any of the maps available to you via download by either the autodownloader, or again the mirror sites.
