Note that the Ubuntu repo already integrates this fix.

This still didnt get fixed, I use version 6654 and i just got a crash at the same spot. Ill try to see if its reproducible through the replay and if so ill upload it too

Cannot reproduce on grounddecals=1; you've used 3, right?

I also managed to reproduce it with the following view:
