New Resource Bar Plus widget

Being tired of spring's default resource bar, and it being one of the ugly bits in springs GUI, Wisse and I decided to make a better one:

The bar retains the full functionality of the default one, all displays are in the same spots, share can also be set.

There are however, animations added on E and M splurge and stall. E splurge is indicated by the letter E getting electric discharges. On E stall the E bar starts changing a dark red color. On M stall the warning rods around the M bar start to glow. On excess the furnace shuts down and starts to eject metal.

The positioning is by default in the same place as it used to be, but can be set by editing the offsetx and offsety variables in the lua file.

Btw we're open for suggestions. There is always room for improvement or even completely fresh ideas for graphics.

Great stuff!! You just fixed one of the most ugliest things (IMO) in spring! :-)

Btw: Is it compatible to IceUI?

It is compatible with IceUi. I could get it to work. Dunno if there's possibility for crash tho.

It looks nice IMO,

However it overlaps the minimap when 1024x768 windowed mode.

i agree it looks out of place, but it's not because it's bad, it's because the rest of the GUI sucks 8)

We had to start somewhere and I think we will continue.

Constructive criticism is always welcome tho, it's not like those are perfect so plz we both want some opinions in order to improve x.x

@satirik: any bugs to report XD


btw: there's an update comming, fixing ATI render.

I have a feature request to make: could you implement a system to selectively autoshare resources with another player? It should be adjustable visually using something equivalent to the current slider bars, but let you pick which players to share with.

would be nice to be able to move those bars, i dont like that top right position on my wide screen, or i have just got used to the old bars... anyways its nicer to be in middle, or near the minimap (just like in OTA).

- when i click that bar, and theres some unit under it, it selects the unit + makes action to the bar.
- my game clock comes on the bars in annoying way, and chat text under them.
- numbers should be more clear, i liked the color settings of old bars more...

maybe make the bars thinner, as the default bars were?

im not really into artistic style, it kind of annoys me if art comes against usefullness.

sorry for my opinion guys.

I dont know how to catch clicks so that the stuff under it doesnt get selected, anyone got any pointers?

You can set the positioning in the lua file. Working on making it draggable.

@TradeMark: This is widget so it makes it optional to use. If you don't like it couse it's a bit artistic don't use it :)
This was first GUI thing Beh and me made and we learned alot of basics from it so expect some improvements in future.

As Beh already mentioned there is offset in lua. There should be separations setting in latest version also so feel free to customize position of each bar.

yeah i know i dont need to use it (how else i was able to test it, than pressing F11 and enabling the widget).

im waiting for thin and stylish version :wink:

why don't you work with IceUI to skin it ... and use the move/resize window system

Yes, unfortunately, where IceUI drops 30 frames, this widget causes no noticable fps drop for me.

The console is moveable via registry settings.
