I've got it I think.

Dungeon Siege Mega Map, enable it too see all LOS as darker areas, you can still order your units while in this mode.

LOS layer is only displayed in game while in OTA view so it can be circumvented.

in OTA mode, there will be a layer over the map, could be grey or darker, this layer will be formed using 3D data of the map.

in this way you don't need the DS megamap, but that would be a nice feature.
