New Map - TheRockJungle

Post by SirArtturi »

Hello!

Here is my new map TheRockJungle. It's revision of TheRockFinal. The concept is quite like same but new layouts and texture will make it completely different map.

Feel free to comment for further development...

Map is made using User's mapconv, GIMP, Photoshop and last but not slightest WicED, that i found very good program for making maps for spring. Thanks to Beherit's tutorial and personal guidance i made this map successfully.

Map size is 20 x 16

You can download it from here:

And here's some screenshots:

you need to dirty the heightmap up a bit, it looks really unnatural (well, moreso the water / beach sections, the hills are ok)

i like the texture though, something a bit different

Well ralphie kinda beat me to it. It looks beautiful, but the depression in the middle in particular looks very unnatural and really takes away from it.

You mean i should add more noise to middle section of the map ? I don't quite get what you are after...

don't do that, lumpy maps are unnatural and look like shit. Erosion over time has a tendency to flatten out large areas of a map.

Can you make a version without Features? I would like to do a World Builder conversion of this map.

Couldn't you just make worldbuilder erase all features before placing it's own?

Yeah, the original version did that, actually. I just thought it'd be less confusing if the SMF had a different name, etc.

Hex edit for the win!

That's how I ended up making Small Supreme Battlefield Dry.
