Requests for lobby and host features

Post by Doxs »

Seing as there are some people out there that do nothing but ruin games I would really like to see a few features added.

In the lobby
_____________
#Kicking or banning people from your game. Including spectators.
As it is today you can only kick non spectators.

#An option that restricts who you can give units to so that you can only give away units to your allies.
Specifically to stop people who generally whine alot and then give away their base to the enemy the second they get attacked.

#Visible checkboxes for the following settings in the lobby before starting the game:
Maxspeed, Minspeed & pause locked and only usable ingame by the host. - To prevent people from messing with the speed and thus desyncing the game. (there are actually people out there who think its fun to do...)
Disable Cheats - Stop cheaters.

In game
_____________
#A way for the host to kick people from the game after it started.
This is really needed so that you can get rid of insane spammers, people who are causing desyncs etc.

Hope this post can inspire some positive changes to the lobby and the game in general.

a toggleable .cheat is needed!
the rest of that is BS! if you don't want specs password your game...and why wouldn't u want specs (unless u r being silly and playing a 3v3 or larger)
kicking people INGAME! WTF
Max and Min speed were only changeable by host last time i looked pause is needed for other players (you can unpause it neway...)
Ppl who whine about being attacked in a GODDAMN WAR GAME need to be shot/banned not have a stupid thing like that which will take time to implement which could have been better spent

of COURSE you can kick spectators.

just click on them, and select "kick" in the player tab on the right (the one where you can force teams, ect)

And min3:
There IS reason to kick people out of the game. Specs that cant shut up for example, or people like tanelorn.

Are you dumb? I like large 4v4 games. IF YOU dont like em go play with someone else. (its called a team effort, but I guess thats not 1337 enough for you by the looks of your comments)

Personally I dont want to try and kick someone from my game because he is a jackass and then see him rejoin like a spectator and I cannot do anything to get him out of my game.

Maybe I dont want to password protect my game since I want to play against other random players. (IF I wanted to play with just me and a few buddies then I would ofc. make a password protected game)
Min3mat wrote:kicking people INGAME! WTF
Yes, getting rid of people that flood the chat or just someone that is ruining the game for the rest of the players.
It is also wery handy to get rid of players causing sync errors.
Min3mat wrote:Max and Min speed were only changeable by host last time i looked pause is needed for other players (you can unpause it neway...)
I want to be able to pause the game without having people depausing it because they dont understand that I am trying to save someone from lagging out. Some people dont get this even though I tell them.
Im not sure whether the speed change got fixed in the last version or not.

Hence why I asked for a way to be able to remove them from my games, yet you called it BS?

yes. the host should have power...but the power to kick people INGAME! i mean if u don't like them ignore them! and yes i'm sorry if i prefer more skillful (l33t) games than massive games
u can use the private chat the pass to other players if someone u hate joins as spec
players cause sync errors? the ban feature will stop them from rejoining if they continue causing them for the third time in a row (you can't do this yet though)
they flood the chat? own there sorry asses time typing means less time clicking!
Yes min+max speed are only controllable by the host (don't flame me for saying ur noob or nething but .setmaxspeed1 .setminspeed1)
OK i admit you are right about pausing and desyncing as noobs not letting ppl sync are annoying
and as i said if they are annoying add them to your 'ignore list' (i'm pretty sure next vsn will have a ban button for host)
and i STILL think kicking specs is harsh unless the game is a 3v3 or above
NOTE:I do not mock the fact that u like playing >2v2s so don't mock me for playing less i don't call u 'l33t'

I did not mock you any more then you mocked me.

What ban feature? If its not in the game is it wrong of me to request it?
Unless someone else already made the request but I did not see any such posts.

I know about those ingame commands, but I did not know it was fixed to host only in last version. What I asked for was a way to ensure I did not have to type those commands every game after starting it.

If its host only then there is no problem.

How am I to know that the feature is coming? Since I didnt know, am I wrong to ask for the feature?

 OK you didn't know! sorry!
but there have been LOADS of these threads requesting a ban feature/ability to kick specs...i just assumed you knew. and if that specs that won't shut up is directed at me i now use the most groovy s: command if i'm watching a game
and being called l33t is imo a insult unless used when joking

Just type,

/kick playernamehere

was almost sure that was working for spects too,

but never tested, just did, (thanks harmy :o )

e: ah, didnt read "in game", i was talking about lobby, still, just figured out you can kick spect there.

Im AGAIST INGAME KICKING, not even a vote thing.

if you dont want to play with somebody, kick him before, or dont play with that person.

This is not a FPS, you cant kick people because "he is a damend rusher".

nonono, im against that.

next time, some bunch of ... will kick you bc you were wining, or used gollies, or... who knows.

its sad when the game drops you in middle of a game, and everybody else keeps playing. imagine if you are kicked (or troll kicked).

Np, no hard feelings here, Ill try and make sure I search more before I ask for features in the future.

That said I always respond in kind when someone responds in a less then friendly way to my posts.

But I must ask, what s: command are you talking about when watching a game?

like a: (talking to allies only) s: put before a sentence means that only spectators can see what you are saying (awesome for ingame reviews!)

Giving people the power to kick will allow them to kick players who are beating them up or winning. Very exploitable.

I like the idea of giving the host kicking ability. People are probably a lot more likely to remember some jerk-off player abusing they system when they are the host, and they aren't likely to get a lot of joiners in the future. It leaves little red-tape between spammers/traitors and the door. Just to keep kicks from being ambiguous, make sure that the game says "[Host] KICKED [player]" You don't want the host to be able to say anything like "oh he dropped." Maybe you can take it a step farther and have the kick-message sent to the client lobby so that people in general know who's doing the kicking and who's being kicked. It forces hosts to be accountable, and there's nothing like 'the word on the block' to flush out abusive hosts and provocative or rude players.

I dont think that the host should be able to kick people ingame. They may kick if they are losing or kick some one just because they are a newb. I dont think we need it, there just arent that many people out there annoying enough to warrant a kick like that imo.

Perhaps it could be a vote thing? Require a 2/3 majority or something to kick someone...

Or only be able to kick spectators, as that is what was being complained about in the first place. I see no real harm in that.

Bah, it just happened again. Ally flooded our bases with crawling bombs set them off and gave his base to the enemy. His name this time was Jalapeno.

A kickvote feature is really needed imo.

I got to agree with Fixwizz, let the host have full control, votes will probably take longer to implement.

Like giving all your units to the enemy team as soon as you see a brawler on the horizon?
