mmmh springdownloader should not do that ... springsettings should or the installer itself
it requires an engine change, not springsettings change, springsettings in fact tries to turn luaui on if possible, but if the user never launches & go straight to spring it will be off (spring's default)

Auswaschbar, your host is way too slow. i mirrored the installer: http://spring-portal.com/index.php/docm ... or-testing but you should also move the content like map, mods, tacontent to a faster host, its downloading with 2KB/s atm...
tell me if i can help you by putting some stuff on spring-portal

I can give you ssh account for my server - it could keep rsync copy. Contact me in lobby, #sy or pm

Another important thing we discussed with Satirik is that NVidia users (half of the players to make it easy) have the threaded optimization issue. All nvidia players should turn this off to have standard perfomance. As new players doesn't have this in mind, they come in Spring with shitty fps and this is a cause for them to leave Spring.

Installer or SpringSettings should add a Spring profile to turn Threaded Optimization off.

I gave it a quick look to find where the profiles are stored in the registry so if someone wants an help to achieve this, he's welcome.

installer needs fixing so it downloads _current_ springsettings and springdownloader.

btw I'm (not only me btw) having absolutely horrible sync problems in the lobby - tasclient doesn't sync, springlobby does (on the same unitsync!); but when starting a game with springlobby, spring throws a content error. it's pretty much insane.
edit: this is the base/otacontent and friends issue... it's got to be fixed somehow since it's pretty much undebuggable.

actually I believe gml is compiled in by the buildbot, so this should Just Work(TM) (and spring uses two cores for me.)

2 KB/s
I wasn't aware of this :? I guess it's a peering problem with free.fr, as I download at ~900KB/s from this host... Does anyone else have this problem ?

The problem with mirroring manually test versions of the installer is that these installers are quickly outdated (BuildServ auto-uploads new versions on free.fr host when they are compiled). So we could end up with users testing obsolet binaries and reporting bugs already fixed :?

so does spring not work on 64 bit systems? because I am about to make my next attempt at a machine and I am building a monster.

It'll work fine as a 32bit process on a 64bit os, afaik.

You consider porting the downloader to .NET 3.5 for the new runtime? http://blogs.windowsclient.net/trickste ... ofile.aspx It'd be a lot easier for people to get a 277K downloader and a smallish 28 meg run time. It may still be in preview stage, but the downloader is small enough you could even package it in the Spring installer: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... layLang=en

Downloader can run on .NET 2.0 or newer..
Does not matter what .NET you have as long as its newer than 2.0

Vista has 3.5. XP if you have SP has 3.5 too. So its mainly for people with windows update disabled.

Also 3.5 is not smaller - its actually 70MB download and takes very long, thats why i attempt to install 2.0 if there is no 2.0 or newer framework.

Well I got 0.6-1.0 kB/s for ages. But then I looked at it and it said 27 minutes, and I looked 30 seconds later it was done, so it must have got to the right speed all of a sudden. Took far longer than it should have though.

I have it running as a 64bit process on a 64bit OS, and it works fine.

Unfortunatelly i don't know any nsis, could someone please point the installer to the recent versions?
In 0.77 the hash algorithm is somehow different from 0.76, resulting in lobby desync if you have different versions of unitsync.

PS.: Timezone was meant to be MESZ <=> around 19:00 to 21:00 UTC.

it was the same unitsync; checksums of individual files were the same, only the total checksum differed, but it wasn't listed anywhere.

Maybe it's related to this ? (though it has been fixed since then and only affected map checksums :? )

total checksum was different because it includes all base files; people who didn't have all files by necessity had different checksums. this wouldn't be so bad (and actually is good in a way) if all base files were always installed, but some are only installed when BA is selected (otacontent.)
