Today, after spending quite a bit of time walking with my wife and daughter around town and returning home I found that my toe hurt, a cursory inspection indicated no observable damage and it was only noticeable when I stepped on it a certain way so I forgot about it until just a few minutes ago. I inspected the toe closely and found that an EYELASH had somehow embedded itself under a few layers of skin to a length of several millimeters as one would expect of a wood splinter. After removing it I tested it's flexibility and it was in fact pliable as one would expect a hair to be.
I guess I'm just lucky... my friend's home was struck by lightning today destroying 2 televisions, 2 monitors, a PVR, satellite receiver, the wiring to a good part of his home, computer power supply and backup hard drive... causing a blackout in his neighborhood but, oddly enough, not to his home.

Hair cuts can happen just like paper cuts, I heard from a barber that they can get quite nasty.

Yep, it's perfectly possible, if not improbable.
Reminds me of when I was working on something and moved my hand the wrong way, drove a huge (about 1/2 the size of a number 2 pencil) splinter 3/4ths of the way (to the back of the fingernail... it was deeeeeep) under my fingernail on my right hand. I think I was on teamspeak or teamtalk at the time. Deci or fang might rememebr this.
I can't describe the pain I was in. Bamboo shoots under the fingernails anyone?
