That's libertarianism. Conservatism is something slightly different.

You should check out Ron Paul forb. IMO the guy would rape your country, but I'm far from a libertarian to begin with. And honestly, I think your 2 party system is kinda raping your country right now anyways.

Nope swift. The two are parallel to a point, but on certain issues diverge drastically. Defense being one of them. libertarians are very much isolationists, for example.

Typical response from someone crying bullshit because it goes against everything they have ever been taught, but doesn't know how to rebutt because he can't think for himself (and yes this is intentionally geared to goad you into responding with reasons).

Don´t understand what Problems you have with your conservatives.. over here in Europe they always acted that way.. Kohl, Chirac.. Why should they behave like liberals (worshipping free market or individual rights..) ?

sometimes funny to see how you oversea messed up your political scale, the rightwing is called liberal- and the right extremists - conservatives. No Left left, but you see them everywhere.. ;)

Funny thing is once conservatives come to power and mess it up, there are always those declarations of there former followers- those are not Conservatives, they didn´t keep a Word they said (of course, nobody keeps a word said during Votecampaigns) and that this irresponsible behaviour wasn´t to be expected.. thats what conservatims is all about.. more power to the state, invention to prevent what they see as phail, wars..

Conservatives think that the People are stupid Sheeps, so they always search for a guarding, extraordinary willstrong &clever Shepard (and are pretty whiney once that [certainly corrupt] shepard fails ;) )

Leftist sees the People as surpressed Slaves of evil Overlords (and get pretty whiney, when the People fail by beeing sheepish, selfish and Spartacus turns out to be a Bastard who likes Sheepstew;) )

Liberals think that Sheeps know best what to do for themselves, and once the Sheepplague comes they get pretty whiney because they have to clean away the anarchistic mess...

I take issue with the idea of saying that most of what he copy+pasted is common sense.

Lol. The sheep could become like the goblins in the Overlord video game and have to run around happily saying, "For you!" when they find and give treasure to the Overlord; Then he can rule the great evil empire until the labels that are given to each of the parties and all of their views change over time again.

WAT?

Liberals treat people like sheep. Liberals think that people can't do things for themselves, therefore government has to step in and do it for them. BTW on a historical note, 50 years or so ago, liberals referred to themselves as socialists.

Conservatives are all about Individualism and giving the power to the individual to take care of himself without government intervention.

Picasso, you have things seriously screwed around.

@KDR, umm yeah... I dunno where you guys get off with thinking that the US can just leave Iraq and not provide any assistance. Regardless of whether you agree with the iraq war or not, it has happened, and imo the Iraqi people now have much more opportunity than ever before. Iraqi women are opening businesses, and violence is down by epic proportions thanks to the surge of troops. And all 18 of those dumbass "Benchmarks" have been met, except 2. 50 years down the line it will be seen as a good thing I think. Dramatic changes take time, unlike what the messiah says.

Republicans in many cases come closer to those ideals than democrats do, however at times a democrat with some common sense steps to the plate and we vote for him. If I was a dyed in the wool republican, do you really think I would have called McCain an idiot?

After rereading a bit... Wait a sec... What you guys over the pond describe as conservatism is actually communism... O_O What in the hell?

@Swifty, If Ron Paul wasn't wanting to cut and run from iraq, then I wouldn't have had much of an issue with supporting him.

I hate to break it to you, but "liberal" and "socialist" mean something different outside of America, where neither is an evil dirty word and some parties are actually names Liberal and Socialist! What's worse is that some people vote for them! Crazy, isn't it?

I also think the way you keep referring to Obama as "the messiah" is bollocks.

I have no idea where you just got the conservatism - communism thing from. A lot of conservative parties are, or have been, pretty pro-"big government" - they're generally pretty paternalistic. Your definition of conservatism is actually pretty close to liberalism in some ways.

Ron Paul is a pretty awful candidate in many respects, but it was kind of sad to see him being the only semi-serious one who actually held a reasonable position on the Iraq war and terrorism.

Well, a Liberal Quote than:
"We are afraid to put men to live and trade each on his own private stock of reason, because we suspect that this stock in each man is small, and that the individuals would do better to avail themselves of the general bank and capital of nations and ages. "

from your misslabelled Liberal Wikkientry

Your Wikki has your Ideologys named wrong than>> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberalism

We Europeans like to screw around, put things on the head, look on it from upsidedown, and so on.. But hey, we screwed around with everything long before you did- so we set the Scr├óÔÇÜ┬¼w├óÔÇÜ┬¼d- Standards here ;) :P

PS @ Panda: Overlord is a great Game i agree, but i just imagine what those Goblins would do with the Sheeps... they would end up as Weapons of Massdestruction like in Worms..

I admit the Sheepcomparison was a stupd explanation, but i tried to cut it down to the essentials and remain neutral and realistic. And i wouldn´t have remained neutral if it would have been Cats&Dogs ore Hamsters&Lolcats, or donkeys&Elephants..

PS³: Well come back from abroad Traveller ;)
