How NOT to play Spring (BA), part 2
Having played more games and seen more noobs, I think its time for another How Not To Play Spring thread. For those who dont know it, its a collection of BAD advice that you're better off not following.
STORE FOR THE FUTURE - Most likely you will occassionally have surplus metal or energy. Instead of sharing it or using it for metalmakers, you should build storages to keep it available when you need it yourself. You have to spend money to make money, so dont mind if you stall while building the storages.
BUILD ONLY THE BEST - Light tank is better than a scout, medium tank is better than light tank and so on. You should always build the heaviest units you can, make all your mexes exploiters, all air krows or liches, and all defenses either guardians or annihilators. It goes without saying that building a vulcan is the only sure way to win a game.
BUILD BUILDERS EARLY - Nanoturrets are the most efficient way to assist any construction. You should start off by building a decently sized nanofarm as soon as possible, as building economy will be much faster when you have plenty of buildpower to harness the economy as soon as it gets built.
BUILD FOR VERSATILY - Kbots, vehicles and air all have their upsides and downsides. For proper tactics, you should always build one of each type of factories. You wont need to use them all the time, but you'll be happy you got them if you suddenly need anything.
BE PERSISTENT - What you lack in power, knowledge or strategy, you can always make up for with enough determination. A constant stream of units sacrificed against the enemy defenses always consumes some of their energy, and with enough time that ought to work. No, it WILL work, even though your teammates would rather give up and try something else.
PEEL OFF THE ENEMY DEFENCES - When you successfully punch through the enemy lines, there's no reason to stop there. Instead of a hole in their lines, you should use your firepower to sweep along the line until there is not a single turret standing. This way you will later be free to attack the enemy from any location you wish.
PRIORIZE THREATS - Anti-air is the aircrafts worst enemy while turrets are lethal only to the groundforces. Bombers and gunships should always seek out and attack the enemy AA, where ever it may be located.
Edit: Added (BA) to the title to avoid further confusion.

Actually this isn't a bad idea depending on the case, and how much excess you have. In many cases it is necessary to ensure that your weaker, longer ranged units can get through without getting slaughtered, or for simply humiliating the enemy.
In EE in particular it is quite worthwhile to destroy defenses. Same for Evo and BOTA. In many cases, assuming you have a steady stream of units, it's better that way so that you can keep your attack going as opposed to your enemy being able to subvert you for a short while which may allow him to come back.
However, I wouldn't recommend it for BA or CA... Oh wait. Spring IS BA and CA. I forgot. My bad. Continue discussion.

It would be more prudent to go and destroy the economic centers once any defences within range of those economic structures are destroyed then return to finish the job, thus preventing them from closing the whole if the remaining defences decimate your strike force and preventing instant recovery.
Storage is good too, it makes metalmaker AI algorithms more efficient/effective, but tbh you should never max out of metal, if you need metal storage then your obviously not building fast enough.

Re: How NOT to play Spring, part 2
hehehe
*shittyBAM*
That said, these threads really do fail, because there are so many different types of gameplay housed within spring. You post these thread based upon the game concepts that are broken in BA, and then noobs play other games and wonder why they got slaughtered.
Like saying hey, don't build multiple factories, they are a waste of resources... If you made only one factory in EE or Evo, you'd get fucked rather quickly.
Why not change the tread title to "How not to play BA, part 1"?

want to remove noobs remove metal makers and watch them disappear :]. Metal makers and metal maps bred these noobs and the legacy has continued
<3 non metal maker mods that make u expand it already makes u a better player even if u suck at it

These two I do most of the time.Renofox wrote: PEEL OFF THE ENEMY DEFENCES - When you successfully punch through the enemy lines, there's no reason to stop there. First one is useful as it gives you more metal to reclaim and it reverses the position of porcing. But I find that when people have finally broken the line they use all their eco to make their own frontline instead of still pushing. Usually this results in porc slaughter.
So I make my point, when you break an enemy line, don't stop and start to porc. Carry on pushing till you have the enemy trapped, then you can easily kill them. Don't stop pushing and let them porc.
Second, when I have gunships I always kill the AA first to stop them killing me whilst I attack and to allow further gunships to attack. I never do this with bombers though, thats just silly.
Re: How NOT to play Spring (BA), part 2
I don't understand, how come NOBODY plays with diminishing metal maker returns?
Re: How NOT to play Spring (BA), part 2
It would make more sense to attack the anti air with your ground forces..Renofox wrote:

And take out the Ground defence with your Air force..

the key to a strong offense is a strong defense!
start by walling off your starting mex with dragon's teeth. this will become your base for the rest of the game. be sure to build a guardian as soon as possible, that's the best turret for base defense.
