Really? What webcomics taught me is that the good ones are good enough to manage their schedule too. :P

Depends on the comic. Sluggy Freelance is pretty close to clockwork, but SomethingPositive is updated extremely erratically, and anybody who questions the quality of SomethingPositive gets a time-travelling sucker-punch to their grandma's pregnant belly.

Why do we care about ubuntu?

And KDR, DC is good and never kept a schedule, in fact he just broke his hands.

WTF? He's going on hiatus with THAT cliffhanger? I don't care if his hands are broken! Hell, I don't care if they're missing! He can rub the bloody stumps into the paper and draw the comic in splotches of gore, just make the next damned one.

It is a massive amount of exposure, and would make it easier for us Ubuntu users to get spring. Could attract more developers and such.

Exactly, targeting ubuntu is a good way to expand our user base as spring's support for linux is pretty solid now.

So spring is being packaged with the next ubuntu release? Sorry if I'm missing something, I've been gone some time.

It's the first Linux distro that can actually be used by Joe Bloggs. It's the Windows-killer ;-)

Large patches arent too great, if possible maybe if it could be a more manageable size broken up? Its not best to spring a large chunk of code on an open source project.

Theres a blogpost on coding horrors about the dangers of doing this and the numerous pitfalls.

I'm really pretty much ready to roll, other than minor dinky stuff... improvements and new units aside, World Builder / P.U.R.E. is ready to test now.

I'm just waiting for the website to be deployed and a server to test MP with, pretty much.

Seriously, small patches are key. It makes it easier to merge (and actually possible if your code touches many areas), it makes it easier to spot/correct mistakes, it allows others to build off your work earlier (or at least not write something that will be broken or obsolete when you're done), and it's easier to get help.

Feature requests go into the the feature request forum. Also, I think that's already implemented in spring with the dynamic clouds option.
