As goes for the vast majority (not AF), they did nothing for the people they are asking a favor from.

If you walked up to a lumberjack and asked him to cut a tree in your backyard for free, yes, you should be happy if he handed you his axe and offered to pick it up from your place later. This is the same sort of thing.

AF may deserve more since he did more for others, yes, but my guess is that he's probably the case where he's the most skilled guy who has that special axe (Win 64) within reach...

I do not have the knowledge to mess with scons or cmake, and its questionable whether I have the means to do so since Im under Vista x64. I don't have the time to spend a few days installing configuring and setting up ubuntu and spring right now either.

If I did on the other hand there'd have been a pretyt patch in this thread a week ago.

But I will try to make a testing release in the beginning of the next week, so we can catch up for testing afterwards.
"beginning of the next week" has arrived, are we going to be told the exact time in advance or do i need to check frequently for event to occur?

Just a reminder Ubuntu Intrepid will go into freeze around September. Since 0.76 doesn't compile, 0.77 needs to be out by then for Spring to be included in Intrepid at all.

Thank you everyone for all the work you do :)

its a free project, most developers have full-time jobs and dont have time. Furthermore most dont have windows 64 (i dont use windows at all, either).
You never spent any time yourself learning something to do that fix, did you?
Everyone's feed up with comments such as yours from people whom would never spend a minute doing something like that.

And you think i don't know that, i have been following the project a lot longer than you my friend.

You said it yourself most developers have full time jobs and such, doesn't mean users like myself don't either, i don't have time to learn how to make stuff and fix stuff in a language that confuses me thanks.

Why don't you just take a fracking chill pill.

For one i'm not a troll i just hate it when people say "make a patch" i see it all the time, had a bad day at work and just had to voice it out. And where have i been harsh against you LordMatt?

@Regret take a look at your forum signup date, i was here from almost the beginning, not that it really matters anyway.

Besides we all know arguing on spring forums gets us nowhere, back to the topic at hand:

Is there any kind of set documentation as to what is needed/wanted before the .77 release is out?

mantis - crash/blocker issues; also, we all probably want to have whatever trepan's working on. I don't know if multithreading actually works (it doesn't compile for me, but buildbots compile it fine), that would be nice to have as it looks mostly done. someone could test whether recent builds actually use more than one core and work faster as a result.

PS. we also need a LOT of multiplayer testing - when IW and PURE open betas come out, they'll be good excuses ^^ I don't know what to think of lack of crash reports from them - is spring svn so stable or do you simply don't submit bug reports?

My patch is sitting at 850k, and I've still got a number of TODO
items left before I'm willing to commit. Unless yall are willing to
wait another couple of weeks (minimum), I suggest going with
what you've already got. I figure I'll probably be able to get it
in by the time the inevitable bug release occurs ;-)

A first release is here:
http://planetspring.free.fr/spring/inst ... 0.76b1.exe
I have not yet figured out why it is named 0.76b1.

Also, iirc it should be possible to install this without affecting your current 0.76-installation.

Trepan, wasn't that the patch that would fix Lua being unable to give orders to units?

r6216

My uncommitted patch does much more than that...

Yeah, and 6216 fixed that.

I'll be ready for a private round of MP testing by Friday, P.U.R.E.'s not perfect yet but it's probably acceptable. Call it two weeks of balance revisions and I'm ready for a mass public release.

So far in the pure betas, I have yet to have a single crash except when I'm using the comm script and zoom out quickly without hitting enter first. That crashes it every time. Does the same in 76 too and only started doing that when I got my 9600GT, so I assumed the issue was on my end or something to do with the 9x series of cards. Either way, once you hit enter it doesn't do that, jsut sometimes I forget to press enter first before moving the camera.

FYI it's not a driver crash btw. It's and honest to goodness spring crash.

Didn't seem to me like it was a big deal, but should I have told someone?

If webcomics have taught me anything it's that quality is worth a small wait.
