Layout looks ok, but the texture is non-existent. I assume this is your first map. Well done on getting it all together, now you need to do v 2 with a texture :-)

Texture is fine, there aren't enough desert only maps.

Another DSD remake?

Needs a more aggressive texture, or features. Atm it is rather bland looking. The layout is ok I guess, but it's just DSD in another wrapper.

Edit: Wait a tick, that looks somewhat like my old desert climate for l3dt 2.3d. If you are using that old climate, you need to render it with a height difference of 1000 and a horizontal scale of 6 or 6.5.

If it just so happens that that is the current 2.5 climate (which is damn near impossible for it to look like that), then you need to render it with a horizontal scale of about 6 or 6.5 with strata overlays. That will break up the terrain a bit better.

If you were to look closely at the height map, you would see it is very different from DSD. The southern part of the map is comprised of many completely flat levels with steep edges getting lower towards the center. There are some smoothed out edges to allow for vehicle movement. Perhaps that is why the texture seems strange? The northern part is not unlike DSD, but it is flatter.
