Favorite super villains
I'm not sure which characters in movies or games I think are great villains. That may be because I can't seem to find too many movies or anything that I think are really scary. Most of them just have stuff jumping out at at you which causes you to be jumpy, but the movie itself is not really scary or it doesn't have a lot of suspense to it.
I don't believe that that the Joker is one of the more scary villains out there, but I do think that some of the creatures in Doom are creepy when they are paired with all of the other creepy effects that the Doom videogame has. I also don't really like Doom, because I don't see the point of playing it and don't like that there doesn't appear to be a whole lot of puzzles to it like some other games that I've played.
Which characters do you all think are great super villains?

im not sure if this counts, but the red tomato- shooting indestructible robots of Keen was pretty scary to me when i played it as a kid.

There was also some other old shooting game i played at that time (i think it was called "wolf") where at the end of the stage, a evil commando would use a villager as a human shield and shoot you with a uzi :[

Re: Favorite super villains
Tony Stark is very self-centered and not particularly heroic even though they added more humor to his character in the movie. He mainly saved all of those people as Iron Man because he was being used for his weapon making ability. I like his assistant, Pepper, and War Machine better than I like Iron Man.smoth wrote:favorite super villian....

I thought of a creepy villain, Jeepers Creepers.
Re: Favorite super villains
The problem is that most videogames aren't much for dialogue (obviously, RPGs and Half-Life are an exception - and even RPGs tend to treat the villain as just an end boss). So, we never get to see the villain killing good guys, torturing Princess Leia for information, and blowing up Alderaan. He's just a big monster you see at the end.
Gatling Gun Hitler works because you see him and you don't need all that exposition. You know he gassed Jews, raped kittens and ate his vegetables just by looking at him. No introductions necessary.
Obviously, if you want to make a villain a real villain in the story, you need to include all that background - you need to include scenes of him killing babies and raping kittens... but still gamers are a cynical bunch, so we won't really care if he does that, because it's just a stupid FMV. So what you really have to do is get the player to upgrade his kitten and make it into his sidekick and use it to take down big bad guys before the villain rapes it.
Hence, Aeris.

HORUS
The son of the emperor, murdered his brother sanguinius, mortally wounded the ~God-Emperor~, caused a civil war within the empire, killed billions of humans, nuked planets down just because they looked gay and corrupted half of the space marines to embrace the taint of chaosSo, we never get to see the villain killing good guys
Eldar are crying schoolyard bullies compared to this nigga
Torture is for pussies, letting demons eat one's soul is for the bad guys, torturing Princess Leia for information,
Ok he didnt blow up Alderaan, but he carved a path of blood into imperium, destroying SEVERAL planets (darth vader's planet kill count =1, horus = 10+ )and blowing up Alderaan.
HOW ABOUT A BOOK FOCUSING ENTIRELY ON HORUS?Obviously, if you want to make a villain a real villain in the story, you need to include all that background
HOW ABOUT SEVERAL BOOKS?
NO WAIT, HOW ABOUT A TABLETOP GAME FOCUSING INTO THE CHAOS THAT HORUS BROUGHT INTO THE WORLD?
