Just cause I'm curious... due to space limitations I had to make my own interpretation.

Does this suit your fancy better, or no difference?

That pretty much violates the logo design.

I don't really understand why. The logo itself is the same, even the text is the same, just rescaled and stuck in a box (I had 100x100px to work with).

I don't really get why just using the logo and then sticking text at the bottom for different sorts of applications is a bad thing.

it violates the logo branding.

While we do not have a proper document detailing placement and logo treatments the logo has an official form and this cannot not be compromised without written documentation at which point it wasn't compromised in the first place.

The text always appears inside the blue background and only the sun can appear in the red central region. There's always a shadow and highlight at 16% opacity (it used to be 29% for those of you who complained they were too shiny). The font is always arial, capitalized, and regular/normal typeface no bold or italics. The text is always behind the shadow and light overlays. Its white and has a black out glow.

If people lack an appropriate graphic for whatever reason then you should consult me before making your own versions

Could you possibly remove the circular pattern of brightness on the top left-hand corner? I think it really detracts from the overall appearance of the logo.

Nowhere near as good when it's not shiny... Would you do me a favor and make me the normal shiny of this?

@rattle, What is so wrong with vista again? 64bit ultimate is the best OS I have used to date, surpassing XP. It's solid as a rock if you have a halfway decent machine, 64bit can support 128gb of ram, dx10 is kickass. As far as it's looks... They are essentially better laid and well thought out XP themes. You can even view it in windows classic mode if you want. Statements like the above make you sound like a poor misguided idiot.

The reason he thinks vista fails is because he's hoping that it'll spark a reaction from me and thus a lengthy flame war.

The icons are fine and he knows it, lets not turn this thread into an OS war to satisfy his ego.

What ever... :P
I didn't mention Vista as OS at all anyway.

At least you removed the glow, that's a start.

As long as there's no fucking glow.

You should make the corners more rounded.

The rounded corners would be neat.

I like how "spring engine" blatantly points out that spring is really more for creators then players. I always thought the ratio of (and thus/because-of appeal to) creators-to-players is really high.

IIRC Tobi did say it should just be "spring"

Tobi had no objections and the logo is not changing for the moment.

As I said you had your chance for giving feedback now you'll have to wait for 4th generation logos in a few months time which will probably just be a minor refinement of the current logos anyway coupled with extra icons.

I made a blue version without glow and with more rounded corners a while ago, but no one commented on it. :(
I wanted to say "more rounded", of course. :P

you do realize the corners are actually rounded already? They've just been resized down from a ridiculous size in that image
