I think you easily have the skill to redo it.
the only problem is you should keep the basic design and then go further.
think about it's most defining qualities, so you might get to a snazzy ring to bring focus to the gattling bit, or a power supply to exaggerate how damn powerful it is or something.

not that I know anything about modeling, but the last thing spring needs is less modelers.

its not the problem that i dont have the skills, its the problem that i am not very good at redoing things, i was just trying to improve my gun but i just stare at it and cant think of anything  however i will keep trying a bit and hope i think of something

I remember at one point quantum made HLTs shoot steam or smoke from the head after each shot, you could do like a hatch or vent that moves when it fires.

Don't be put off. No one makes a good first model. There have been worse ones... and even the best models get a bashing from the forum critics.

I am useless at things artistic, but I'm not bad at ideas, so if you like I could suggest a few things to you that I'd put on such a model if I had the modelling skills... up to you. I'll have a think about it and post again when I have more time.

Keep at it though, you'll get better quickly!

Also, Machio your 2d art is excellent, someone could easily base a model on those sketches you just made. You should interact more with modellers.

I think the point is you didn't redo the model, you cloned the model. You need to put a bit of imagination into redesigning the model slightly so it makes more sense, otherwise your trying to put detail in where there was none before and it sort of makes no sense.

When you upgrade your contract phone are you upgrading to a better phone or are you upgrading to an identical phone that's made out of slightly more expensive materials?

Its still sort of going to fall forward, it needs to extend out the back so it isn't front heavy which will make it look a lot more sense.

Otherwise this is what will happen:

for now but a better design is needed, perhaps some concept art is in order?

Why the bevels?

The power supply module is a good idea. I don't think something has to be done for the bottom part cause this is just supposed to make the shooting part high enough to be clear.

IMHO, good kinematics improve modeling if they re realistic. When you see the gaat's head rotate, it looks like magic cause no realistic kinematic is involved in the rotating process between head and bottom.

Think about a realistic joint between head and bottom. (e.g. double pivot).

Or a ball and socket arrangement would work well...

I was thinking it would look cool if you had sort of tubes/cables coming horizontally out the back of the shield (one for each laser barrel), looping back round and down to the base/mast somewhere. So they would look like power/beam guides. They could even go to the base with some sort of power/controller stuff...

Spring doesn't have deformable mesh, so you'd need to make the whole thing rotate instead of just the top turret.

I thought that might be the case after I posted it. In that case, the cables could loop back to a sturdier connection point on the neck? Then there would just have to be a couple of joints for the vertical arc of the head, but they could rotate horizontally with the head...

I'd been knocking around the tubes idea, but slightly different. I think Acidd's suggestion would look better if the deformable whatsit worked, but if not these might do. Also one problem with those cables is that the gun needs to rotate 360 degrees which would not be possible with that design.

I was thinking more of two stiffer, bulkier tubes, going from the upper base to the sides of the head, symettrically arranged one at each side, with a ridged appearance. I imagined a cool kind of glow, maybe white or purple or changing colour to a set pattern, as it reloads...

Okay so I said I was not good at art and didn't lie but here's a brief attempt at conveying visually what I'm talking about. The attachment point for the tubes would need to be set on a rotating ring to allow 360 degree movement, which I imagined as a torus bulging out slightly from the rest of the neck to emphasise this point (can't draw this).
