about the content in the ta demo
is it similar enough to the full version to mean that owning a copy of it, would allow me to dl the ota content, without feeling like i've done a bad thing?

Re: about the content in the ta demo
I'd prefer the "its really old and the guys that own it don't even acknowledge it" over the "the content is also in a free demo" rationalization.
in the slight chance that someone does try and stop the content from being used, they'd go for the hosts and maybe mods, not the people who downloaded it anyway.

covering my backside is all really, a matter of minor curiosity, but there's still a small amount of feel gooder(sic) in downloading a legal copy for free.
[ed]also, interesting that the ota content retrieval command for slackware uses emerge.

I wouldn't feel too bad about it. If you really want, I'm sure you can get a TA CD from somewhere for like $5.

Mine was $2 years ago. Might be 5 if it's headed into vintage territory.

I think SWTA used to distribute a standalone exe based on the demo without a problem.

If you're worried enough to make a thread then just buy it from Amazon for a couple bucks. That's what I did, although I did it because I wanted to try OTA.
