New map.

Post by Gota »

This is the heightmap.
I need to make the second from lowest level to be submerged and it needs to go from being shallow to deep smoothly..not abruptly as it is now.where its near the upper levels it needs to be higher and where its near the lower level it needs to be lower..
How can i do that?Im using the Gimp.

Mask the area you want to make an even slope on, and select the slope start and slope end heights for the colors, then use a gradient tool.

Post full heightmap, if its less than 16*16 it should be easy, but make sure the pathing and M and is perfect and it compiles exactly like you want it with a test texture.

WE need a map editor with themes terrain elevation and outomatic real time texture generation.Than we will avoid totaly crap looking maps or maps with unclear and buggy heightmaps and will only remain with crappy gameplay maps.
I also think many are able to make a good gameplay map while cant deal with all the trillion programs you need now in order to make a map look real good.

And dont give me that horse shit of how having to invest all this time in understanding all the diff progs weeds out bad mappers...that is horse shit
since pretty maps are not good by default.

Basic, why not make a map editor instead of posting you want one?
Also, there are quite a few out there that work real well :)
Btw, WICed has all the above mentioned features, but, like most good things in life, its not free :(

Gota we do not NEED a map editor, and who the fuck is going to put the man hours into it so you can have a FREE tool you LEACH.

Why?

there are many pieces of software both free and commercial that already can edit the texture and height fields they cost anywhere from 20-500 and you know what? That is YOUR MONEY, I mean jeez, you do not HAVE the money to pay me to develop that and if you did, I would call you an idiot while I make bank off of your stupidity when there are many readily available tools that can do the job for cheaper.

I don't think we need an editor right now, honestly. The tools at hand are numerous and time-effective. I don't want to see a hundred maps using the same shittastic tile set.

Not all speed maps use the same tiles, but they do use the same metal map.

I've textured this for you. Aaron was able to get my climates to me so now I actually have the capability. I reworked your heightmap just a wee bit for more natural look, otherwise the texture would reflect kinda blandish of sorts. Pic in a few minutes.
