Well, why would I want something useless like that?

Because you can sell his admiration and respect on the really-dark-shade-of-blue market for lots of grot pebbles, which are really valuable in some obscure economy you can't find. But if you did find said economy, you could use those grot pebbles to buy otherwise unattainable things, like and F-22 raptor, all the fuel and ammo you'd need to burn half the world, and the technicians to keep it running and teach you how to fly it. Or if you have enough (which I don't think SwiftSpear's admiration and respect is enough to get it) you could get a fully functional battlemech (Battletech style), I'm still saving up for that one.

ooh! a Battlemech! Now would this be Clantech or some shoddy hand-me-down Inner Sphere junker?

The inner sphere ones cost only half as much as the clan tonnage-equivalents. I'm saving up for a Mad Cat since the Daishi costs as much as a medium sized city on a nearby planet :| .

Direwolf this, Direwolf that... The Kodiak and Stone Rhino get no respect. I'm not into 100-tonners though, a Nova or Horned Owl would suit me fine

 You could probably take me out in a jenner, mk1.
Kodiaks do look pretty nice, but I prefer the bird style legs for some reason. And uh, I've never seen a Stone Rhino. Only whats in Mech 2,3, 4, and 4: Mercs. But some of the ones in the few books I have read sound so much cooler than anything in the games. To bad they can't figure out a way to make rear turrets intuitively controllable with a joystick and keyboard.

The Stone Rhino: The Behemoth (what Inner Sphere heathen call the Stone Rhino) weighs in at a massive 100 tons, comparable to the largest 'Mechs ever manufactured. While such machines bring awesome firepower to the battlefield, ultimately, commanders cannot use them effectively because they cannot afford to lose one. The Behemoth features twin Gauss cannon, a large pulse laser mounted in each arm and an almost superfluous small pulse laser. The arm-mounted weapons feature retractable shock-absorbing cowls covering the barrels which allow the pilot to use the arms as battering rams without damaging the delicate laser assemblies.

Unfortunately, I have not had the pleasure of reading any of the novels like you, but otherwise I have tried to glean what lore I could from BTech sites, and know broadly about BTech.

Indeed it does. I may have to find a more efficient way to make grot pebbles.
