Request-Ingame commentator function, like in a football game

Post by bunny »

I noticed in exciting big games, with lots of spectators; there were a few commentators typing about the game all the time.

:!: A voice-based ingame running commentary would be nice.
Something like a spectators-only Teamspeak (TS) channel; limited to specs from 1 current game.

It would mean Spring will need a "TEAMSPEAK" or "mumble" component.
Hosters will have the TS server component, while specs will have the client component.

You get the idea. But its' not a critical request, just a feature.
Please dont eat the bunny.

A number of people have asked for inbuilt teamspeak, which I think is a good idea. I guess it probably wouldn't be that hard to get Spring to save the information with recordings, but one wonders what that would do to recording sizes...

I guess for the moment there's nothing stopping people from simply recording an mp3 that people can play in sync with the game.

Teamspeak sucks (for Linux users), Skype is way better.

i know i've railed against this in the past, but I think I would actually really like to have an inbuilt voice chat feature. the multiplatform issue is huge and the current popular solutions arent really very good on all platforms.

TS doesn't work for linux, and having to sign up for a skype account just to chat in a game is just annoying.

of course finding the libs is another issue... :o

lets say that we get tis running, then the designated announcers would have to promise to be impartial to teams. one person could give the positions of one person to another

I could do that. We announce when we spec? Otherside would also be a pick. He only spectates!
