I kill cats on sight to keep lag down, so I don't have a steady kitten stream to deal with.

Plants won't rot if you get them into food stockpiles. Not sure if they'll rot if you let them wither in the field and don't refuse the withered crops.

As for flies, they hang out near food, farms, or mud, so as long as your bedrooms aren't in the middle of your food production or dining room, you should be fine. A door does wonders here.

Thanks for the tips guys. I have a nearly unlimited supply of ratmans and batmans in my lands, so I suppose I should make clothes with their leather. How is the process for leather?

just trade leather into the fort, it's less expensive than cloth and the merchants bring hundreds and hundreds of raw leather each time they come.

Hey, I'm staying up late at night and had an insane idea:

Well many games would be godly if they were as complete as dwarf fortress, but they would be godly big and cpu eating as well :)

Because you can make weapons with bones then use those weapons to tear off someones hand so you can pick it up and throw on someone else, and once everone is dead you can make a mausoleum with 20 diferent kinds of rocks and engrave everthing.
