Just like we're recording experience... how about:

1. Record how many times a host purposely disconnects a game. Put that under his XP chevrons as a Mr. Yuck face or something

2. Or, record demerits from players. Have a voting system where a single player can issue 1 vote per person with a +1 or -1. Then each player has a public rating number. That number shows up by his name or by right clicking it.

i dont think this will work it will probably end up being abused if its voteing system, and if you think about what you asked the first time you would realise spring is to unstable to give a host that disconnects/restarts for a player that crashed or droped would be considered one of the worst hosts ever?

There should be a "Can I Host?" Button, that clients can use to check to see if they can host.

Yeah... tons of games today I just gave up on because the host kept pooching out and being all "sorry spring crashed" or "this was working fine yesterday"... but negative feedback would be bad, because I got accused of cheating today because I Brawler rushed a guy and he though I'd figured out a way to unpasue the game when he'd pasued it for 10 minutes... demerits should be handled by the game itself checking to see if you are really dumping the game cause your losing, or complaints should be sent to a Moderator who can investigate claims and act accordingly...

The demerit would only happen when the host escapes deliberately while people are playing.

And I don't think you could abuse it so long as a single user can't issue more than one negative vote per person.

wtf...why the hell do you want this! if a player cheats/acts badly/flames or w/e just post him here on the forums to force him to get a new nick and start from 1 chevron and most importantly be a good sport. noone i've met is like this. and if this REALLY bothers you make passworded games with your friends ffs

I don't know why you want this when i know of yourself having done that, at least, 2 times before. One of them, i was there, the other, i was in the lobby.

Yes, so people can give me demerit votes for rushing, for using Brawler attacks, for using LRPC, for using nukes...

I think neither of those could be implemented without leading to complications.

It may be a strange thing, for an alpha version of a game still in developement, but spring DOES crash from time to time.
(the last version less then those before, but it happens).

I think this "feature" can wait until spring is rock-stable and there are no others to worry about.

I think this idea is actually unnessisary. for one thing, i havent met any mean people i have met on the Spring server. Also it is easly used to demote someone is is winning cause they are <gasp> BETTER PLAYERS then you! What a concept.

This is a horrible idea. I would certainly give you negative feedback tanelorn, since after that game yesterday where 2 minutes in when I attacked you with two freakers you just said 'damn rushers!!' and left the game. Negative feedback

i mean, something like an online library (DB) of replays.. ( 7zipped?, by default? just like paths are?..).

Watching a (complete) replay, gives you acces to "rate" it... and rate players in it.

all accesible throug the versatile lobby client.

Later, when accesing the library, you can sort replays by rate.. user.. map..

User submited replays. (same ids as client).
Open rate system, withs some admin in it.

i like mongus's idea but i think we just need a way to find out how many games a player has finished completely or has left halfway through. with ofcourse someway of telling between a crash and leaveing or if that person was completly eliminated.

impossible. i think that a d/c (disconnect) should equal a loss otherwise its just not fair.

I agree - I had exactly this at the w/e, a game with a host who quit after few minutes: "I play to have fun, I wasn't having fun so I quit - what's wrong with that?" so we just made a password protected game for all the other players (IIRC monopoly and his brother and a guy name tailbarlionfish - what a great nick!). Apart from that though I've not really had any problems. You get the odd disconnect when people realise they've lost, but hey we've all done similar (ctrl-A ctrl-D).

If we do start to get a problem (and I really hope we don't) then I'll be very sad - it really spoils it for everybody. We all get mad some times though and I think the main way to avoid us getting to a place where we need to score people is to cut a little slack here and there - forgive and forget.

You never know what is going on in somebody's life other side of the screen.
