Game 'Crashes' after loading screen
hey there guys & girls, ive a problem which i cant find on the bug report threads, so i made a new one, sorry if one already existed (and i appoligise for any bad english, im not a true native english speaker althought i have had some time to perfect it so be patient with me)...
anyway this is all the info i can get at the moment but it will be udated with a time code...
Symptoms
after i have set up a single 'player' match vs bot(s) i click 'i am ready' and then 'start', i wait for the loading screen to load, with all of the info flickering in the middle of the screen (things like; Path Costs #/#, rendering unit textures and others that i cant remember) then it comes to 'finalizing' then 1 of 2 things happens
1 - the preloader screen with finalising on it seems to freeze and is unresponcive, except when i pressed the enter key which gave a click/beep noise from the computer but nothing evident happened (i tried the windows button for bringing up the start menu, and the ctrl-alt-del which did work kinda but the 'tsk mannager' pannel just flickered as though it was unsure if it shouuld be in the foreground or the background behind the preloader. this meant i had to manualy restart my computer, Reboot button. No severe/noticeable after effects...NOTE, this has only happened twice, i have tryed to play the same conditions about 10 times
2 - the preloader screen gets to finalising for about 2 seonds then dissapears like the program was getting rid of it to start the main program, but nothing else happens. i looked at the event log on my host battle screen, and it said Battle opened, game loaded, returned fom game. im prety sure i didnt play it though. no severe/noticable/ after effects
System
Microsoft Windows XP, Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 2
Intel Pentium 4 CPU, 3.00GHz 2.99GHz, 448MB of RAM,
1GB of RAM
Unknown Gfx card, ill post it when i find it
Recreation
-Load up computer and allow it the 'settle down'
-double click 'Spring Battleroom' icon on desktop, which brings up a small preloader screen for the loby for a second, then the lobby screen appears
-i automaticaly get logged in and tranfered to '#Newbies' tab
-i click on the 'host battle' tab at the top, and then i select host battle from the drop-down menu
-a new small windom appears in which i reduce the 'Max. players' slider to 2, leave the rank and description alone/uneddited. change the mod to Ballenced Annihilation V6.21, and randomly mashed the keyboard in the passoword box. 'UDP Host Port' is left at Default - 8452, and the 'NAT traversal' is set to None(default)
-i then click the host buton at the bottom of that window
-another window opens up (battle window) with various tabs and options (maps, Starting pos., end game condish, resources ect). i select the random starting position and leave all of the other settings alone.
-i then click the 'add bot' button at the bottom of the window, which brings up another window (Add bot dialog) and the default settings for this; AI dll - AAI.ddl, Bot's name - bot, ID - 2, Team - 2, faction - Arm, Team colour - Red. i accept this defaut, then click the add bot button, which removes the indow and takes me back to the battle window where the bot has just been added.
-at this point i check/click the 'im ready' button at the bottom which turns green, then i click on the 'start' button.
-the screen goes black (my computer seems to audibly crunch the data) and a small paragraph of righting appears at the top middle of the screen then dissapears to make way for a *random?* Background image for the preloader, with silver text flicking in the center of the screen, (the data being loaded, i presume) then it stops at 'finalising', the screen retunes to the battle window and nothing happens.
-the event log in the battle window show; Battle Opened, Game Launched, Back from the game. the later 2 are about 15 seconds apart on average.
I do have a video recreation of it, which i have a voice over telling you what is on and off ect, but the vid quality isnt great, then again you should be able to see my mouse so you could figure it out. if you want it, just ask and ill e-mail it to you
on a side note if anyone could help me find out how to get more system info like v-numbers and stuff then please do. id be hugely gratefull, cause ive been dying to play this for over 2 months now

Re: Game 'Crashes' after loading screen
ive managed to find out my gfx card and stuff so here it is (i have no idea what any of this realy means),
Renderer - VIA/S3G UniChrome Pro IGP/MMX/SSE
Ram - 64MB
Display - 1024 x 768 x 32 bpp (75Hz)
OS - Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 2
processor - Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHz
the gfx card/gfx renderer i have does accordint to my investigation have the right stuff but i cant seem to find it on the list of compatable gfx cards, the UniChrome was, but no the pro version
also i have looked at the report thing from the 'Open GL Extentions Viewer 3.0' program and this is the list of extentions on the report page that i assume it means i have;
Extensions: 31
GL_ARB_multitexture
GL_ARB_point_parameters
GL_ARB_texture_compression
GL_ARB_texture_env_add
GL_ARB_texture_env_combine <-(the important one?)
GL_ARB_texture_env_dot3
GL_ARB_texture_mirrored_repeat
GL_ARB_transpose_matrix
GL_ARB_window_pos
GL_EXT_abgr
GL_EXT_bgra
GL_EXT_blend_color
GL_EXT_blend_minmax
GL_EXT_blend_subtract
GL_EXT_compiled_vertex_array
GL_EXT_draw_range_elements
GL_EXT_fog_coord
GL_EXT_packed_pixels
GL_EXT_paletted_texture
GL_EXT_rescale_normal
GL_EXT_secondary_color
GL_EXT_separate_specular_color
GL_EXT_stencil_wrap
GL_EXT_texture_compression_s3tc
GL_EXT_texture_env_add
GL_EXT_texture_env_combine <-(or this one?)
GL_EXT_texture_env_dot3
GL_EXT_texture_lod_bias
GL_EXT_vertex_array
GL_S3_s3tc
GL_WIN_swap_hint
and one last thing, could someone atleast tell my that, if they are, they are looking into this case and stuff to put me out of my paranoia lol

Re: Game 'Crashes' after loading screen
Did you try to update your graphic drivers and reduce settings to lowest? Did you try with another AI, like TestGlobalAI.dll?

Re: Game 'Crashes' after loading screen
ive tryed to get the latest drivers, and i reduced everything to 0 or off, but i will try a different AI, (also, side note - i have only 3 AI's, AAI.dll, KAIK-0.13.dll, TestGlobalAI.dll)

nope, i cant get it to work. ive tryed all 3 AI's that i have and i have also tryed them on different maps, and different factions. ive even tryed to watch just in spectator mode with 2 bots fighting, but i still got 'booted' from the game, or according to the action log...''back from game''

YOur vid card has 64mb of ram. That is your problem. You need to go to the store, spend 30 - 50 bucks on a card (get a geforce, cheapest one they have) and you'll be fine. Spring will look like total crap with a low rate card like that, but welcome to technology.
How did you manage to have a comp that good, and such a shitty graphics card?

well, ill get one now that i know but could you suggest a decent one, the price doesnt rly matter (within reason) just a gfx card that will be compatable and efficient on gfx side of things?
Re: Game 'Crashes' after loading screen
