Conspiracy freaks?
Just wondering if any of you guys are into conspiracy theories.
I am pretty big on conspiracy theories and I like to discuss everything from Alien visitations and government secrecy.
What about you guys? any of you believe in a conspiracy behind 9/11?

Thank god nobody really close. Former teachers husband, few people I had known professionally [still have my temp ID 'visitors' badge in a box somewhere], one of my best friends close friend [I remember a great skiing trip to Killington VT w/ him...].GrOuNd_ZeRo wrote:Why? did you have anyone who was personally involved in it?
Plus I'm a new yorker... And I've heard some of the 'conspiracy theorie' crap about it- and it makes my blood boil. Most of it seemed like poorly hidden bigotry and propaganda.
Anyhow ->this<- still chokes me up in a way I can't even begin to describe. Thousands of innocent people of every income bracket, religious and ethnic background, and political affiliation were murdered. I will never, so long as I live, forget that morning of my life.
As a plus side you made me remember a time when my president didn't frighten me... I really did forget that.

When USA was about to invade Iraq, they tried to cover the eyes of the world with a, so-called, coalotion(?) of countries.GrOuNd_ZeRo wrote:Just wondering if any of you guys are into conspiracy theories.

They had a summit in Açores, a Portuguese group of islands in the Atlantic. There, it was the Portuguese prime minister, the host, the Spanish one, the English one and, of course, the USA president. Those would form the so called coalition and go to war together (at least in spirit as i'm pretty sure no portuguese equipment was sent to war...).
I thought, ha the filthy prostitution. I just hope that, at least, Portugal would be well paied for such shamefull prostitution.
Some months later, the Portuguese Prime Minister, Dur├â┬úo Barroso, leaves the government and is off to the EU presidency. The one that substitutes it, launches some measures to introduce open-source software (the nemesis of Microsoft) into Portugal and proposes some against smoking in restaurants and stuff (which didn't made it, by the way). Some time after, a former portuguese prime minister, Ant├â┬│nio Guterres, is elected to some high position (alto-comiss├â┬írio das Na├â┬º├â┬Áes Unidas para os Refugiados) in the UN and rumors say, with the help of USA.
Of course, the presidency of EU takes turns and could just be the portuguese turn, the open-source Caixa-Mágica Linux was already on it's way to establishing itself, António Guterres was the only candidate which had ruled a country before. But i still wonder.
And by the way, of the 4 countries present at the summit of Açores, USA got bombed, Spain too and now England. Although the presence of Portugal in Iraq is almost ridiculous, guess who's left!?
The good news is that they seem to be recruiting musslins from the countries they attack and, in that case, the recruited terrorists would probably blow up they're own head-quarters, instead, trying out the bomb. (the portuguese are definetly not the most professional people in the world)

I'm sorry to hear that mother, I really feel bad about the onces that were involved in 9/11.
I could go on forever about 9/11, but i'll discuss another topic:
Alien visitation and the US Government, have the US government made contact with aliens? have aliens visited us? for how long?
I think the question if alien life exist out of this world is 99.99% sure, to think otherwise would be quite arrogant IMO.
But are they visiting us? is that what some of the UFO's are?

I believe very much that there is/are at least some other sentient or willful 'entity(ies)' (since we really don't have any real idea what they'd be, sticking to loose definitions is probably a smart thing). But coming to Earth to stick crap in people? not likely. Or secretly in cahoots with the government(s) and especially in order to subjugate the people? You've been watching too many B-rated movies you've gone that far.
Lets face it, whilest i suspect were not alone in teh universe, the chances of us meeting anyone are remote. Even with faster than light travel, you'd be looking at years and years to get anywere, and even then you'd have to know that people were there in teh first place, if your were just system hoping you'd never find anything.
(unless you had teh time to visit several billion systems... but who does or could organise beings to do so?)

yhe, so who in there right mind builds billions of probes... by the time they found anything they take so long to report anything back... come on, admit it would just be stupid...
and if they did exist and want to find a friend then they wont get here any time soon so i would not bother worrying about it.

Stop with the probes already.
Well, there is solid evidence something SOMETHING beside a weather balloon of ANY kind was covered up in NM, Roswell or Corona.
The general concensous is aliens since of the stupid excuses, they claim the balloon was from the Mogul project which is a spy balloon meant to look out of nuclear explosions in Russia, problem is, project mogul didn't start until later, They claim the bodies which were seen were dummies for project High Dive, so they are NOT denying the fact bodies were recovered.
Also the entire defense and inteligence sector was completely remodeled a little after the Roswell incident, in '47, the US Airforce was created which used to be USAAF (US Army Airforce), the CIA was founded and the NSA as well, coincidence? maybe, but definitly suspicious.
I highly recommend going to http://www.abovetopsecret.com and look for Gazrok's post on Roswell, he is skeptical about most cases, but this one he believes along with the battle for LA, an event that the US Army fired at an UFO hovering above Los Angeles.

Why the bloody hell would aliens be interested in such a backwards planet as Earth? What do we have? I doubt we have any special technology that they dont have. If they want to study us, hover in orbit. Why would they invade? No point. Tonnes of other planets out there. I mean there are 9 others in this slar system alone! And if they have ships capable of interstellar travel, and atmospheric entry, why the hell did they crash? And what the hell would shooting our primative missles do to a UFO if it was hovering over Los Angeles. And why would the government keep it secret? They havnt kept quite about the other wars they had.

I think that any FTL spacecraft is likely of human origin likely from a secret government project (unlikely) or the future. Aliens wouldnt bother with us unless they'd ran into technical difficulties nearby and hadnt fixed there ship yet.
And paulomorfeo, the UK holds the presidency of the EU currently.
I doubt aliens have been foudn ro visit eartha s such a possibility as roswell was aliens. Governments have amny secrets, for example american research on nuclear rocketry is protected as if it had been tested, unlike some more sensitive nuclear technology. It's also ntoed that they've tested large saucer shaped craft in test drops from extreme altitudes designed to carry nuclear arsenals in space.
Though I find it likely that if aliens came anywhere near that the governments would ahve colections of alien technology that had fallen as debris.
Has anyone seen the US rods from god space weapons project?

Heh oh my...
Whats kinda funny is that Atlantai's comment about a terrestrial origin for FTL ships goes against the 'they wouldnt bother with us' arguement :)
The point is that any civilization that has advanced to the point of having sent FTL ships all the way to us (or non ftl for that matter) must be so far advanced that we would hardly be a going concern for them.
We'll jump all over microbes on mars, but after the 123x10^12 time we run across 'life' we'd probably only bother with the interesting ones... And the probability that we are one of the first that this 'advanced civilization' finds are way lower then them finding us :)
OTOH if they are from the future, ok. Maybe we could even just replace future with 'alternate universe' or brane, or whatever.
