Re: Identity, and Identity Guidelines
Have you tried firefox/Opera portable? That might get you around the issue of admin rights..

Re: Identity, and Identity Guidelines
I love my Firefox 3 Beta 5 portable so fucking much. I would fill this thread with screenies, but to give you the right idea, I have that mega sex black Night Launch theme, combined with all black Google, Youtube, and other sites using Greasemonkey and Stylish. Then, I have the fabulous download statusbar, 4chan toolbar (complete with every useless feature advertised), custom spring.jobjol.nl search, and fabulousness that is included with the new beta, such as finding and installing addons and themes directly from within the browser, and super fast fastness. I am sure Opera is a great browser, and I have seen in action. But I am hooked on Firefox. Get it.

They all pretty much fail, in my opinion...

Re: Identity, and Identity Guidelines
I'm just now finished with classes, but I have a lot of stuff I have to do. Like move. We'll see if I have time to bust out some color comps. Just a heads up that grundgy version of the logo I showed is not a raster, it's all vector baby.
Zsinj, I use a combination of Mister Retro's Machine Wash 4 and Illustrator's live trace feature. Mister's Retro's filters are worth the money though. Google it.

I like machios logos, lets pretend he was serious and give them a step up ^_^
Neuralize, how can you expect to set out a logo standard if your using commercial filters? Will users not skip details because they're unwilling to spend money on programs and plugins in order to reproduce the logo correctly?

Reproduce?
What's he doing a vector version for then...

The average user would go wtf at that statement, lets try and reduce the number of befuddled netizens and help the end user.
A good logo can be scribbled quickly. Most people wont take the time to recreate grunge.

Re: Identity, and Identity Guidelines
honestly, I don't like the grunge treatment, if i want to grunge it up, I shall but it is the font I have a problem with. I really am not too fond of the rounded corners. It just feels to... bubbly
Re: Identity, and Identity Guidelines
Uh, you never ever reproduce a logo. You take the svg, ai, or pdf that the designer has released and you use that for all applications, and you do not change it unless such changes are authorized in a logo standards sheet. I have made the grunge part of the logo, and part of the vector. I have purchased mister retros filters and therefore I can use for them for any application, commercial or otherwise. I just can't release the actual filter software.
The question you should be jumping on me about AF is how a none grunged subhead in the Kimberly font is going to clash with the grunge of the logo.

Re: Identity, and Identity Guidelines
Are we going to have a strict guideline for the logo? It would seem some play should be allowed so it matches with the theme of the mod.
Re: Identity, and Identity Guidelines
A lot of people wouldn't have a clue what an svg or an ai was, and most people dont know how they would go about taking the logo out of a pdf, most would give up or resort to screen shots, and most people do not know how to take screenshots.
A pdf/svg/ai doesn't mean very much when your using a pencil doing a quick sketch. I seriously doubt most people can draw your grunge, or any grunge for that..

Re: Identity, and Identity Guidelines
Svg can be opened in paint.net.
Re: Identity, and Identity Guidelines
Some play will be allowed, of course, there is always play allowed.
AF, what's the point of having standards we're going to stoop as low as to cater to those who don't even know how to open an svg in inkscape, gimp, photoshop or illustrator? What sort of retards do you envision wielding this logo?
Ideally, Spring should have a designated graphics team that the dev team, or any member with a legitimate graphics request can go and ask for graphics expertise. The Spring's graphic team will have a library of Spring graphics and would of course approach all requests in a similar way.
Pencil sketch? I don't even know what you're trying to say.

Re: Identity, and Identity Guidelines
Neuralize, have you shown the images to tobi? As the current project lead his say would be important.
