Doubleclicking any game also refreshes mods.

gui needs polishing, but you got the ideaBrain Damage wrote: i did finish that yesterday (actually i totally reimplemented it in C++, so now it's cross platform, i also some features like upnp/nat-pmp, lan peer discovering, peer exchange and dht), needs a graphical interface and testing

Re: Showcasing spring to new users (feedback)
Less cutsie icons. Specifically the chat one.
Re: Showcasing spring to new users (feedback)
The chat one should reflect on the inhabitants #main. I'll leave that one to the artist's interpretation

Re: Showcasing spring to new users (feedback)
No, SL automatically joins #springlobby, not #main. And the current icon indeed does reflect #springlobbys inhabitants.

To the original poster... people just like things flashy and easy + you probably did too much work for them. Getting people into something is both a mix of that something + psychology on your part. I you had just made them download it via the internet (not asked them because they may just never do it...) and then let them sort out their problems by themselves, by them putting more effort into it they may have been more inclined to stay. (of course with you bail them out with advise so they dont get irritated and confused and drop the whole idea).
Yeh of course they wanted to run it on max settings, the thing you needed here was support from this website selling lower settings to them.
min spec- whatever
mrecommended spec- whatever
maximum spec- the spring engine is a glorious thing which will scale well with any pc. if you want tip top graphics spring can deliver it, we just have'nt found many pcs that can handle all the features...
therefore when it doesn't run at full spec on their super-uber pc they dont feel that its crap & inefficient coding making their pc run slow but they will be happy to turn them down because they allready love the idea of pushing their pc to the limits...
that and maby in the 1.0 release setting the auto-settings (simple mode) to highest wont enable the highest gpu-hosing settings and just something that a high-end pc should be able to run optimally.
Im new and have just come here, i find the biggest hurdles to me (im used to development projects and was/still am seeking the best strategy games out-there, gameplay being most important, and im willing to work to get things working!). The biggest hurdle has been not having the documentation at hand.
I think a streamlined basic game installer of just the best mod at the moment + a couple of maps + ai is all that is needed to make someone bite. At the moment everything is too complicated for a casual gamer. the sources for getting started with this game are just scary (holy **** what are these 3000 words in-front of me all i want to do is play a tutorial and couple of skirmishes, see if i like it, scary!).
This is what is stopping people starting in my book.
Stopping people staying is the bugs and things not working. Ive found myself re-installing this alot when i find stuff not working and it is a hassle to re-install because you need to re-download things to install them. Is there another way that i cant seem to find-out about?
mind-you for a 0.76 release this is fine, AND it has a large fan-base. come 1.0 is when everything should be streamlined and it should be a completed game.

I'd be happy with just BA in the installer, but I don't think a lot of other people in the community would like that.
