So last time i asked for tablet pc advice on this forum, my plans were cut short due to parental intervention and a crappy but functional laptop that was magically pulled old of an old supply closet in my uncle's office (ergo resulting in my parents not having to spend money).
but i've finally saved up enough of my own money, and i really really need a tablet pc for my engineering work. circuit diagrams, pseudocode, random class notes, and tons of other little things that i need to work with just take up *so much freaking* paper its not even funny. ive gone through over 1000+ pages of paper (all handwritten) as far as notes, homework, and scratch paper for problems goes in the past four or five months alone.
case in point, i was cleaning out my room and just found stacks and stacks of paper *everywhere*, it was fucking ridiculous. i've probably killed a few forests on my own.
so i really freaking need a tablet pc. anything under 2500 is fine. this immediately puts the dell latitude Xt out. it's overpriced, and the only real features it offers for the price are a SSD (who cares) and multitouch capacitive screen (UIs dont support it yet, who cares?).
right now its between the lenovo x61t (iirc) and some compaq 2690 or something. my *must haves* are:
it must be a convertible with a hard drive
it must have an accurate and precise pen
it must have be able to run vista ultimate (with all fancy graphics shit turned off)
it must have a bright screen
i dont give two shits about the performance or HD space (i use very little of either) as long as it can handle vista ultimate. i dont give three shits about its graphics card (again, beyond running vista ultimate).
i really really want an outdoor viewable screen, or a corresponding option that enables it.

I highly recommend you look at Toshiba's lineup:

I will let you pick specs for yourself, but the lines have all gotten decent reviews. Screen is especially good, if you're looking for brightness and contrast fit for outdoor viewing. Like the last time you asked, I suggested you wait for some of these tabs which have now been released.

I own a tablet, and in my opinion, the best tablet is from Asus which is one I got. They say they are number 4 laptop manufacture and their quality speak for itself.

Fujitsu has some great ones.

They have factory refurbish store-floor versions on eBay. I've wanted one for some time, they generally sell for 75% or so of the "new" price and are statistically less likely to have issues, since they were indeed used and thus tested.
