Re: refurbished laptops
Well... the price is right. At least it doesn't have a celleron like most laptops under 500$. Keep in mind, buying refurbished, you're getting a much shorter warranty period then you would be getting buying new, and laptops are a nightmare if something breaks on them.
The 60GB HDD is sorta sad though.
I'd say you're not exactly getting a screaming deal with that laptop, but you're not being ripped off.

Re: refurbished laptops
Hard drive size doesn't matter unless you're actually going to use it.
People are always like "get a bigger hard drive" - but unless you plan on stockpiling movies or something, a bigger hard drive is a waste of money.
You should reformat your hard drive and reinstall Windows every 6 months or so anyways.

Re: refurbished laptops
I use about 220 GB now, most of which are isos. But I got along well with only 120 GB (actually only 80) over the last decade. Watch and delete.
Re: refurbished laptops
I've got a 320 and a 250 almost full...too many archival backups <_<
Re: refurbished laptops
I have 1.75 TB of content, and none of it is pornographic. Well, none that I know of... there are about 300 GB unexamined.

Re: refurbished laptops
Your just gonna end up filling all the space up sooner or later and then have to delete to make room, might as well start doing that from the beginning and then also have less stuff to care about loosing when reformating.

Re: refurbished laptops
We might be better off asking - what are you going to use the laptop for?
I've had something like 7 computers so far, and I've never run out of space on any of them. I've always had average or below-average hard drive capacity. But - here's the kicker - I don't download massive amounts of content... I think the most downloaded stuff I have is 100 or so songs (at about 3MB apiece that's 300MB which is nothing) on my old laptop.
Besides which, if you want to save a bunch of content it's better to have an external hard drive. If you want to ensure optimum performance, a clean reformat + reinstall of Windows (Linux, whatever) every 6 months or so is the best way to go.
