Battle Open/Close Feature

Post by Judgment123 »

I was wondering if an open/close feature for the battle screen could be implemented so that hosts can open or close a battle to allow/disallow people to join. I say this because just about every time a host is about to start a game, someone always joins and messes up the whole process. The feature would also allow battles to remain closed after a game ends, letting the previous players decide if they want a rematch or not, without extra people joining, albeit to spectate or not.

Yeah, I had a similar issue yesteday. The game was set for 8, but then we decided on a 3v3....but one person insisted on joining the game, even after asking nicely and not so nicely. I ended up passwording the game, and pming the people that I wanted to play the password. Perhaps in a similar respect to the open/close, the ability to change game values while the game is already open?

what about if when the host kicks someone, the Spring client remember the kick and keeps it in effect until the host leaves the battleroom

Then it would be a ban, not a kick.

How about you can change the maximum players in the battle room. So you arrange for a 3v3, set it so no one can join, and if someone leaves you just wait for someone else to join.

I think this is a great idea. I for one would be a bit annoyed at being kicked - fortunately most people are polite enough to ask you to leave. But it would be far better for both host and player if the host could indicate that the game is ready to go and "lock" it. Can I suggest that the "yellow" status be used for this instead of it's current meaning?

Just my two pence worth

Where do these people come from?

You would think that in a small community like Spring, there would be very little idiotic people; and yet the place seems to be crawling with them.

I mean, I can't believe Storm actually had to create user accounts at FileUniverse to stop some morons spamming the comments feature...

To be fair, the thing at FU wasn't Spring related at all. We had penis pill, mortgage, etc spammers hit the wide open comment system that was previously used, and I was the one who disabled it because I got tired of cleaning those up. Registering to comment isn't a big deal anyway, it's not like we're selling your email or anything.

Why not just come out and say it guys?

WE NEED AN OPTION TO STOP SPECTATORS

With the new client i have found i cant kick spectators i dont want there it annoys me when i need a 4th player and theres a spectator sitting there saying i want to spec.

i only spec a game when im hosting and have something i have to do in the next 30 minutes or when i dont feel like hosting or playing and join one of the other hosts that already has a full game so im not ruining anything.

heres a list of the things i think we need
1. ability to ban someone from your game
2. ability to choose if you want spectators or not
3. Open/Close command as it was said up above when you finally have a game ready you can close the battle to others
4. a option to allow people to change there teams or have the host do it:fix the basterds who wont leave the arranged teams alone
5. a few more colors to choose from
6. an alphabitizied map list
7. ability to save custom disable list's with labels make it easier to just ban nukes or krogs or both a lot quicker
7a. if the ability to save custom disable lists dont happen can we atleast get an option to search on units quicker?

i know some of those might have already been talked about or be planned but heh i didnt notice them when i looked.

I would like to be able to change the number of players allowed while in the battleroom. That way I would not have to rehost if I we have enough for a bigger game, and I could turn extra spots off if we decide to go to a smaller map.

As I see somewhere, having cached map could be cool, some map really take a while.

I don't know if it possible, but for solo gamer, it could be cool to be able to host without being connected to a network. (or perhaps launch transparently a lan server)

not sure if it's currently up to date, but there will be an up to date version on the cvs or whatever... but you can download your own server... connect to it with the client on local host, and set games up that way

I know, it's just I'm very lazy :) And current way is not really easy for newcomers.
