weird mouse lag
Whats the cause for the weird mouse lag while playing spring? I have talked with a few other ppl in the lobby who have reported the same issue.
What i've got is something like a 0,5 second lag in the input. If i make a quick movement the mouse will follow, but it will start doing it when i already have stopped the mouse.
This is more noticeable when i run spring at a steady 60fps then when running at 30fps (960*600 vs 1920*1200).
As far back as i can remember the mouse has been laggy in spring, so it's not Vista to blame this time :)
In a glport for quake1 there was similar problems for some people, and they got it corrected by introducing a console command that made the gpu to wait for cpu before drawing a frame, or something in that fashion. Could there be a similar problem in the spring code ?
Im not sure about the gpu waiting for cpu part, but the solution was to "give the input drivers a chance to catch up".

Re: weird mouse lag
If you were running Linux, I would know how to fix this, but for windows I dunno. Do you have any weird programs running in the background?
Re: weird mouse lag
No weird programs as far as i know :)
I managed to reduce the lagging significantly by turning the shadows off. Whats weird is that its not depending on the framerate how much the mouse lags behind, but it seems to be depending on how much work the gpu has to do effects.
When i had all details maxed out, but a low resolution (50-60fps) the mouse input lagged behind more then with the higher resolution (25-30fps) and all details. I would go as far as saying that the mouse lag was double at the lower resolution, same as the framerate difference.
btw my system specs are core2, vista64 and gf8800 640mb.

Re: weird mouse lag
Be sure you have threaded optimizations turned off in the nvidia control panel.
Re: weird mouse lag
I have the same feeling under HD3850. Resolution is 1024x768. FPS is ~60. OS: WinXP SP2. Mouse reacts with a small delay.
Re: weird mouse lag
I guess this problem is due to v-sync is on. Try to turn it off.

Re: weird mouse lag
Does it happen when you are the host?
I generally get a little lag when I am not the host, but thanks to time warner massively upping my connection speeds every 6 months I get to be the host nearly all of the time

Re: weird mouse lag
I am getting this problem when I use VSync on my new computer.
Re: weird mouse lag
Nearly solved it by using windowed mode. It runs faster, does not crash nearly as often.
The other option is to game using my new laptop, it has geforce 9500m and it runs much better then on my 8800 on primary comp. :D

Re: weird mouse lag
Also, if you are using a wireless mouse... This is the wierdest thing ever... If the receiver/transmitter is too far away you will get wierd mouse lag in spring and various other gmaes, but not in windows. Just happened to me the other day and I was trying to figure out what the fuck was up, then realized and lolled
Interesting that it only seems to show up in progs that use OGL.

Re: weird mouse lag
It does it to me even in windowed mode. I solved it by not using VSync
I think it is because my computer kicks so much ass that I get super high FPS so it has to sleep a awhile but doesn't process input events while waiting.

Re: weird mouse lag
i had this problem too, directly after updating to BA 6.31. It was caused by some widget called FPSManager, which dynamically changes your settings ingame. after disabling the widget and going to settings.exe changing the values back, everything runs fine again...
Re: weird mouse lag
I am happy to inform you that turning on "hardware cursor" solved this game-breaking super-annoying problem for me! \o/
I use vista, and i was told it won't work in vista, but then i tested it and i must say it works flawlessly! If only i had tested it as soon as 0,77 was released
