Converting to .sd7 or.sdz (help)

Post by MR.D »

Guys I finally got my first map together and working, its in the new format and it runs good.

I have 2 small problems though.
#1. I have way to many trees showing up for some reason
#2. I don't know how, or what program to use to compile the map files into a .sd7 or .sdz format

The trees aren't really that bad, but I would love to know what program and how I can compress the map files into the new spring .sd7 format so I can upload it as 1 file and take up less space.
Thanks for anything you can offer.

The issue with the trees is a known issue with the texture color
being green. You could always try and change the color balance
with Paint Shop Pro.

On making the .sd7 files you can use 7zip. You can download
load it from http://www.7-zip.org/
You should be able to get the app from that web site.

When making your .sd7 files make a dir call maps and put all
3 or 4 files if you have a skybox in the map directory. You
should have a .smf, .smt and .smd file. Right click the maps
dir and goto add to archive. When the archive dialog box
is displayed. You can change the name of archive select the
update mode to synchronize files. Make sure the create solid
archive isn't check.

Once you've installed 7zip, put the three map files in a folder namad maps (not the taspring one). Then right click it and add it to the archive. When it's compressed, rename it to the correct name. The reason is that in the compressed files, your three map files need to be in a subdirectory named 'maps'. Not sure why, probably because when reading from compressed files it goes to the spring root directory.

Make sure not to use "solid archive".

.sdz (Spring data zip) is simply regular *.zip file renamed into *.sdz

.sd7 (Spring data 7-zip) is simply *.7z 7-zip file renamed into *.sdz
