Your arguing semantics...

I know God exists, I have proof, I just can't show it too you in a way you'll accept because it's in my head, or my soul, or in my heart or whatever.

Being a Christian is kinda like hallucinating. For example, a person may know that Fred the Purple Elephant exists, because he sees him all the time. You however can't see Fred, so you don't believe that he exists.

Now, if you believe in God, you might not know he exists... and if you know he exists it's imposible to NOT believe he exists unless you doubt your own sanity.

Or at least that's the way I see it.

Basicly, I am a firm beleiver that 1 + 1 = 2 in all normal condtions. However, just because I beleve that 1 + 1 = 2, it does not stop it being a knowable fact, nor does it being a knowable fact stop me beliving that!

Non-belivers dont know if theres a god or not, whiles't belivers Know, for them, god exists. Theres probablie no proof taht anyone can show a non-beliver to prove he does, they can just try to purswade and get teh person to look in tehre hearts and maybe then they will find the proof that cant be shown, which is what a beliver has.

somthing like taht anyway, im not very prolific...

Your choice

Post by munch »

Wow what a great conversation =)

I guess a lot of this comes down to the old "what is this life all about?" question. For me it's a lot about getting ready for the next life. If you don't believe there is a next life then it doesn't make sense I guess!

Yes, I believe in both science and also in the existence of God -nice one zoomb =)

There is a part of you (and me) that will last forever - call it a soul if you want. The way I see it, the main point of this life is about your soul and what you do with it - how you develop it. Everything we go through gives us a chance to make decisions which affect us and others on an eternal level: how we react to stuff, whether we're selfish or selfless, giving or taking etc.

God has a stack of rewards that he's dying for people to win. I hope I do the best I can in this life to win the best reward I can in the next life. This is why the "I'll do what I feel like most of my life and then get religious just before I die", is a sham. You only get one shot at this life! Imagine you're in a race - you don't know how long you've got, but you have to get as far down the track as you can. The further you get the bigger your prize... only you don't bother to start running until you think your time is nearly up - you're not going to get very far!

The way I see it, science tells us about the physical world which God has created as the first, infinitesimally small step in our journey into eterntity. When he calls time it'll all be gone, and we'll be left with the progress we've made in this life and nothing else that we can call our own.

If you jumped out with both feet and said with your life "God I'm not interested in you or your stuff", that's fine - God won't force you along for the ride, you'll be separated from him for eternity. Your choice.

Love

What an odd view of the world...

I think its only a matter of time before you die, so you might as well live good, and die well. Best thing anyone can hope to do!

Indeed. Except if it harms the people around you.

The purpose of life is to enjoy it, and to make others enjoy it as well. (at least that's my humble opinion  )

believe there are be gods or god. But I certainly do not believe any religion as all are basically written by sexist men thousands of years ago and I cannot believe god/gods would be sexist. I do follow a Buddhist type spirituality but I have issue even with Buddhism.

So there you have it my twisted belief structure :-)

Yeah... this isn't exactly my opinion, but I'm gonna say it this way to get people to react...

How do you know God isn't sexist?

Reasons:

Eve was created because Adam was getting lonely, making God jealouse for man's attention... despite being loving enough to provide what Adam wanted anyways.

Eve brought sin into the world.

Evidence:

Women bleed uncontrollably for about 1/5th of their adult life.
Women bear children, forcing them into the position of service by natural order.
Men are physically stronger.
Women have boobs... causing them to have more back problems then men.
Almost every culture to develope on earth has been led by men, any exceptions, are just exceptions to the rule.

SO you see... There's no reason to assume, if there is a God, that he is not sexist.
