"Mom, Dad, can you buy me that game? Please!"
Are you fucking kidding me?...

My parents haven't bought me a game for several years and I am only 14. Any time I want a game, I can get about two for my birthday or christmas, the only time I receive enough money to buy a game immediately. Other than that it is saving up.

Also, a quote from somewhere. I can't remember...
"If I didn't love you I would buy anything you asked for."

Different parents for different folks, Snipa. Some parents DO buy their kids anything.

They're kids are also dicks.

I think there's a correlation, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Nemppu's parents bought him too much candy, video games, and/or methamphetamines.

The more you spoil a child the worse it is.FACT:
you lov etour kid spend time with him and teach him things dont jsut brush him off by buying him something and supposedly making him happy.
Its a difficult taks to prepare a child for adult life and if you dont tteach him usefull things and spend time with him shaping him than the other factors in his life will, like a tv set,a computer screen or friends.
All of those are mostly bad influance although you might get lucky and ur child will have good friends that will help him improve instead of deteriorate.
Encouraging your kid to play the computer is very very bad.
Its hard to be tough on a child especaily; your own but the the more educative and guiding you will be the better it is for him.

Best thing a parant can achieve is encourage his kid to take responsebility,to love knowledge to be social and to have a strong will.

"He who loves his son will whip him often, so that he may rejoice at the way he turns out ... Whoever spoils his son will bind up his wounds and will suffer heartache at every cry ... Pamper a child, and he will terrorize you; play with him, and he will grieve you. Do not laugh with him, or you will have sorrow with him ... Bow down his neck in his youth, and beat his sides while young" Sirach 30:1-13

I think most Parents are secretly glad there is the TV, the Games and the Internetz to blame. How can somebody who just spends half a hour a day with his offspring stand up against such allmightys? Lost cause to comfort & calm the consience..

And i tell you something, you can have no Medialife at all and still a horrible Childhood. :(

Raising a child is very very demending and if you dont put effort means that your son/doughter are probably gonna be lowlifes or just the avarage sheep.

Just imagine Zoombie telling a Fairytale.. and the evil wizzard slaugthered the hero, raped the princess and conquered the World - &rewrote History to be named the Good Wizzard from now on. And they were happily necroed ever after..

;)

Joke Aside: I think raising your kids to be intelligent is a really tough subject.. like starting a livelong Competition on Knowledge. Don´t know if i could do that.

I once read a article over a Professor who -anonymously - donated Spermcells - and had two kids that way - both raised with high expectations. One did a try on University, the other completely abandonded the Rational and turned to Religion.. and in both cases the Mothers did everything to support the Career of there Offspring. This is maybe the hardest part to accept & to admit, that from birth on, you start lossing controll. You can just offer Chances, Presents.. a chance to try your E-Guitarr- and such.....

Reread my Post... Flame on me for beeing Emo..

a person becomes partly by being influanced by his surroundings.
If you are around enough and you make sure your kid respects you than you will influance his descisions sometimes directly sometimes indirectly.
Of course if you jsut tell him do whatever you liek and ill support you from day one than obviously he will be influanced by other things and not by you.
After that you shouldnt be surprised your kid is nothing like youd want him to be.

This thead is about Chris Taylor complaining about Piracy by the way.

Irrelevant of what a parent does, every child will fundamentally form their own individual personality temperament, which will ultimately dictate the types of things they like doing and are good at. The only thing the parent can do it see to it that the child has the appropriate environment and experiences to grow into the best thing they can be. And that doesn't mean spoiling or overprotecting the child. Real life has disappointment, real life has pain, those are lessons that need to be learned well. However, that also does not mean those are the only lessons that you should be teaching as a parent. Love and protection are also things children innately need to grow, the just must not be smothered.
