Geo`s in the new map format.

Post by mufdvr222 »

Can someone explain to me why the geovent.bmp included with the new map tools is just a pink image? Image I gather the idea is to add whatever geovent graphic you want, I did this but "in game" I don`t get the graphic on the map at all just the vent itself.

I just replaced the geovent.bmp by one of my old keep without ever trying the transparent one (btw, I used white not purple as the transparent color), and it worked fine.

The only problem is that geovent don't appear where I put them. I added four green dot at each corner of a perfect square, and ingame the geo position is a couple tile randomly away from where I put them. Makes it impossible to precisely put geo.

Or are you using a new new map tool? Url?

No just the same mapconv as everyone else.
I generate my textures with L3DT.
I tried using the geovent.bmp from the old maptools but I still get no graphic on the map at all.

You should be able to make your own geo vent with MS Paint
or Paint Shop Pro. You just need to call it geovent.bmp an
mapconv will use your bmp. I've used a few different types
in some of my maps. One that sticks out is the one I used in
Duggans-Metal-Two-V2, the round red glowing geovent.
hrmph made it and it looks great IMO ... :-) ...

On placement issue, I doesn't alway stay where you would
like them. I don't know why, but its strange ... On the
ones not showing up on the map. I think it has something
to do with the height map. If its too low or too high it might
cause it to be over looked when compiling. This is just a
theory on this issue.

Hopefully I'll have a good fix for everyone when it comes to geos in the next major release of Sharp Map.

No longer will you need single pixels in a bmp to place geos :)
