Vasaris big fat colonizer ship, "jarusal evacuator" or whatever, can stop multiple ships from jumping. Combine with speed boost from marauder.

Virtually anyone who owns Sins is complaining about the cowardly AI, I think they'll fix it with the next patch. Warp inhibitors too.

I sorta like the Advent. Their ships look neat, they research fast, and their hot, dogmatic space lesbian telepaths.

What more do you want?

Bah bah bah. My ears are made of adimantium. Makes it hard to listen to Tchaikovsky, but it aids in the listening to horrible voice actors.

I just got it a few days ago. This game has quite a learning cruve. I played a 7 hour game over two days and still don't know what everything does. Once we all get the hang of this we should all organise a massive multiplayer match.

Yeah, it sounds like the developers did it themselves.

I corner 2 enemy fleets at a pirate base
Image

I trick an enemy fleet into entering a system by luring them in with a couple of badly damaged capital ships, and once they get close I jump my fleet in behind them, leaving them nowhere no run but my own space, which is a fortress. In Sins, you can't make a decisive battle happen whether your opponent is AI or human, unless you use such subterfuge. This isn't TA, where battles happen frequently. More often it's all about making a show of force and making your enemy run away.
Image

My fleet at the end of one game, containing hundreds of ships and fighters. I'm still about 60 ships away from the fleet cap.
Image

An enemy fleet, similarly massive.
Image

Our two fleets meeting in honest battle would be a disaster for both of us. So I lure him in again using a swarm of light and medium ships. Just as the battle begins, my carriers jump in, launch a torrent of hundreds of bombers, then get as far from the battle as possible. This forces a retreat - seeing as my fleet contained no carriers, my opponent didn't send anti-fighter cover.
Image
There's actually a little backstory to this... See in this particular game I had made my massive fighter forces known. Then I made sure they were seen far away, so my opponent would send his flak ships to another location. Of course, it was all a trap. Should he have attacked with his flak ships at the location he was led to believe they were, he would've found my main fleet waiting for him. Flak versus 70 battleships, would not make a good outlook for him.

Image
One of my fleets preparing to make a coordinated jump towards an enemy fortress.

Image
Another similar pre-jump shot.

Image
One of my scouting parties locates his main force. My entire group - including several flagships, not something to sneeze at - is annihilated before they can even start their jump engines. Their sacrifice wasn't in vain though...

Image
Zoomed in to maximum. You can see a handful of individual fighters.

Image
Zoomed out a little more.

Image
More.

Image
Moar.

Image
More.....

Image
Now you see the big picture.

Imagine trying to play this game at typical RTS speed and you'll understand why it must play slowly.

I've come to a conclusion: Sins isn't a very good looking game unless it's in motion. But that's ok.

My replays are all for 1.0, I think. I haven't played any larger games post-patch, no time for it.

Also, anyone else had trouble turning on anti-aliasing? I didn't notice it very much until now when I see the screenshots, but it doesn't seem to be turning on regardless of what setting I use.

Uhh you can force it on in the driver. Set it to application and it'll use what ever SOASE wants. Settings greater than 4x cripple FPS in larger battles I think.
