Re: Darkstars & File Hosting
Its going to be interesting to see who wins the file hosting war
Also, couldn't one of of you hosts set up a tracker and act as a seed that connects with an integrated torrent client such as springlobby is planning? That way everyone is connected to the tracker when they are logged in and are seeding what they have. Then when they download they automatically start leeching off everyone else for that particular map/mod.
Or is that Licho's idea

Re: Darkstars & File Hosting
That was lichos idea, but licho also made another point few people noticed in that bit torrents support http mirrors too so theres nothing stopping users who upload torrents from adding in links.
Re: Darkstars & File Hosting
Actualyl I plan to add http mirror "command" in P2P coordinator..
So that mirros can be used AFTER torrent is created.
This means I will basically link my torrents together with yours, jj or sefidel's page..

Would be neat if it weren't a war and all three were used.Relative wrote:Its going to be interesting to see who wins the file hosting war
IMO spring.clan-sy.com should maintain a mod and (possibly) map list with redirects to all known hosts with that file.

I agree with Felix - I see no reason for the 'war', when all sides are simply trying to help Spring as much as possible. I think the major search function being hosted on Spring is an excellent idea - it should be centralised, with links to all the people who have kindly offered hosting, from UF to AF and any P2P services, etc.

Re: Darkstars & File Hosting
this is what my service is - public coordinator that lets others find torrent or direct link download.
But its mainly designed for integration with lobbies and not so much for end users.
