problem is you loose a ton of build power. Its better to selfd at 3-4 mins. We fooled around with beh trying quickest tech from 3 or 4 mexes, and IIRC you can have it in under 5 if you really try, without the com selfd. reclaiming your solars after adv solar and reclaiming your coms if you mstall.

So you get T2 fast. But can you afford the T2 UNITS then?

This is mainly good in 4v4 and above teamgames where you can send freakers quick to front to maek vipers. vipers at 5 mins is a good thing.

The whole point of T2 rushing is not the units, its the econ... adv mexes, tough expensive, can pump out 4x more metal from a
metal spot than tech 1, and the fusion makes more energy per metal wasted than any other energy structure (At least on land, I dont know sea) while occuping very little space. There is also the fact that you need just one factory to provide those benefits to the whole team... Actual, I would say that rushing tech 2 is only worth if you are in a big team and give tech 2 builders to everbody.

I remember an idea someone had for early T2:

1. Start out normally, except make one each of the Storage types.
2. Get 2 Constructors, move your com a good distance from your base, and Self-D.
3. Have one unit build the Adv Factory and the other reclaim Com metal when you need some.
4. Lolgoliathspam.

This would probably actually work in team games where there's enough players for one or two to hang back and work on the big hitters (like 4v4 SSB)

That could work, except for step 4: You shouldnt spam tech 2 units after rushing tech 2, you should make builders and then upgrade all team mexes, and you would probally need to make at least one fusion for energy, and THEN start the Goliath spam :)

Spam doesnt means large amounts anymore, it means making as much of one thing as you can :)

It is still a horrid choice. They are specialized anti-swarm low-mobility tanks capable of spearheading a charge but not ideal for prolonged close combat with other front-line units of similar caliber.

Yeah they are the bigger tanks around, but he meant other heavy tanks :) Personally I like to spam heavy tanks, but not goliaths.

You know that with Micro Reapers are a more effective choice in groups. And they won't get ganked by Scouts or Splash. And they aren't rocks resting on the earth.

With micro , 300 different units become more effective. Find a better reason

i dont base my assumptions on theorycrafting but rather realistic situations

sure, a weasel could kill a goliath by dancing around its slow turnrate turret, but in reality this is just bullshit.

Beside, by the time he succeded you would have already womped the enemy :) . I dont like goliaths much because of their speed tough. Being that slow is no good for a assault unit. Unleash it is freaking hard to kill, like sumos or krogs, but he isnt :)

I prefer Reapers to gollies, due to their higher HP/cost and the fact that they can actually go somewhere.

Bulldog uber alles. Core has to pick between extremes, Arm gets the sweet spot.
