Yes, this is disastrous in more then one way. My mod (Star Wars Spring) is hosted on UF, and we've just had an article published which included a link pointing directly at our UF site, which is down. Where are you cup?!?

His last post was at jan 22 but as I understood he must have let someone else take over his site, who could maintain it!

joanin or whatever took over the site, but the server is dead ATM. If you can't access to HTTP, you can't do much with FTP either.

U-F is down pretty much 60% of the time isn't it?

So's your mom, but I don't complain.

Seriously, this is a major problem. What is going down Cup's side IRL? This is all the more reason for us to integrate a P2P downloader/uploader.

No, UF is rarely down down, the last time we had a problem with it it had to do with the changes cup made breaking something.

You can now use the CA Downloader to torrent maps and mods.
http://public.zjt3.com/spring/cadownloader.exe

I also made an rss feed generator for it if you want to use ├é┬ÁTorrent.
(17 mb of ram and 4% cpu usage is very efficient o_o)

Generator is at:
http://public.zjt3.com/spring/rss/get.php

To get automatic downloads with ├é┬ÁTorrent (do not attempt this if you have a low monthly bandwidth limit or a slow connection):
1. Go to Options >> RSS Downloader.
2. Add the generator URL on the Feeds tab: "CASpring Torrents|http://public.zjt3.com/spring/rss/get.php"
3. Go to the Favorites tab.
4. Add a new favorite and call it "CASpring Torrents".
5. Use * as the filter.
6. Change the feed from (All) to CASpring Torrents.
7. Change the save-in directory to your spring Maps folder.
8. Change the label for new torrents to "CASpring"
9. Switch to the Releases tab and click "Update Now"
10. Pray for bandwidth.

From the screenshot it looks you are actually seeding just few files and rest is queued.. Increse max torrent download count?

Also please DO NOT USE IT NOW! Unless you limit number of downloading torrents.

Upload limiting is not working properly (only per seeded file) so you will overload people's conneciton now..

oic, didn't mean any offense. A month or so back I tried to get on and play a game but I couldn't download any maps from UF so I assumed the problem was ongoing.

This is the first downtime for UF that has lasted longer than a single day so far. And the others were reported far in advance so we knew they were coming. No one really knows what's wrong this time, and therefore we can't fix it without cuppy :(

Does anyone in the community know cuppy personally, or otherwise know any RL contact for him?

What with all those freshers weeks, student union bars, and student discounts, I doubt cuppy has the time to bother himself with this place.

I have web programming experience and server space available on a permanent host something similar to unknown-files for the long haul if people are interested and willing to help me.

Please let me know. I would hate to see Spring go down because of this.

Join the club :P

So far three people have offered the service at least temporarily, though I don't known if they plan to do it long term:

Hmm... So there is no need I guess? Though they don't seem to track downloads and comments and such...

*shrug* Just offering...

http://www.darkstars.co.uk/downloads/ will remain online for the foreseeable future.

Why will become apparent in the following week, but suffice to say I am due to nuke yet another MTR topic, and this time it will be destroyed utterly. I also have a few twists due I haven't told anyone about.
