A good map for Human Vs. AI?

Post by Maverick »

Hey Guys,
I was hoping for some advice on what's a good map for Human Vs. AI games.
1. Bots can't be put on the same team
2. Bots automatically move to the lowest in order of start positions
3. Bots cannot play with with 'choose in game' start position.

I'm hoping one exists along the lines of humans start in the middle of a map, with limited passages all leading to the middle of a map.

Any advice? I've done searches however since 'ai' and 'bot' are under 4 characters, results were limited.
Thanks

You can use 'choose in game' with bots:
1) Add some bots to your game.
2) Start the game.
3) Type .cheat
4) For each bot team, type .team # (where # is the bot's team number) and place its start position. DO NOT CLICK READY!
5) Switch back to your own team by typing .team # (probably 0 or whatever your team number is)
6) Choose your own start position and click ready.
7) Have fun!

It depends... What do you mean exactly, do you want a map where it is easy to beat the AI? If that is what you mean, try a map with a lot of choke points. And wall off the choke points with dragons teeth and defenses. That tactic on that kind of map makes it easy to beat almost any AI.

If you want a good map that will be a challenge vs. a AI, than try any tournament style map. Quanto's maps are good, Noize's maps are good, and a few of my maps are decent for this (frostbite v2, arctic plains).. Basically any map without a ton of chokepoints and without a huge amount of metal will be a good challenging map to play against AI(s). If you really want a challenge, try playing against multiple KAIs on comet catcher using balanced annihilation.

bots can easily be on your team, just set their ally to the same as yours.
use FIXED STARTS
check a maps fixed start positions by clicking on it.
place the bots into the game in an order that puts one team on one side of the map and one team on the other,
good maps are reasonably big, open, with minimal chokepoints and if possible little diffrence in elevation. prefferably no water also.

some maps that are cool with bots:

comet/green comet
tabula
foothills
Battle_for_PlanetXVII-v01
Crossing_v4_final
IcyRunv2
Terra
Altair_Crossin
cooper hill
VallesMarineris_v4

some maps that really suck hard:

tangerine
supreme and small supreme
victoria crater
riverdale
small supreme island
metal maps
water maps

With SpringLobby singleplayer you can place players and bots where ever you like ( even outside of startpositions ).

True, but the intent is co-op multiplayer.
When you're sick of turning friends into enemies through flash rushes, co-op multiplayer helps everyone get along

Co-op is fun... I remember several S44 co-op games that we set up, 2 of us humans vs. "The Red Tide" (6 Soviet AIs). Fun as hell.
