Its a really good space fighting game. Basically its a real and turn based game: The action happens on real time, but the game pauses ever few moments for planning... this might sound boring but since battles are fast it isnt really, and there are loads of unique ships and weapons to use... you can even make your own ship to use in the multiplayer lobby... the only bad thing about this game is that it seens to have a very small active comunity, what makes it hard to play online...

Re: ShadowArmada
I guess you would like what I'm working on for spring then.
Re: ShadowArmada
Damn, thats the most alt chars and porn link posts I've ever seen on a forum. :D
Re: ShadowArmada
Their forum is pure shit and there are only like 15 people that play the game... these 15 people are really nice tough :) Oh yeah and they are all vets who will kick you ass :) (Except for me and one other guy)
Re: ShadowArmada
I wish there was some kind of detailed documentation, it's worse then spring at that.
Re: ShadowArmada
Shadow Armada is very much awesome. Too bad that walt stopped updating it in 2007.
I remember my traction ship that could defeat practically everything. Unfortuantly that ship also convinced walt to nerf tractions
Zpock: there's not that much to document really. At least not after timed shots were simplified (IIRC, you couldn't just drag and drop, but had to manually place timed shots). Targetting's slightly complicated (and slightly broken), but other than that... Mostly it's just click item to use item. Skills don't do anything any longer.

Re: ShadowArmada
It has a ingame tutorial tough :) And like Zell said there is very little to document. I think that if weapons had a more detailed description the game wouldnt need any documentation at all...Zpock wrote:I wish there was some kind of detailed documentation, it's worse then spring at that.
Re: ShadowArmada
Detailed weapons descriptions are what I was thinking of. For example it would be very useful to know exactly how all the stun weapons and movement hindering weapons work, IE how many turns they are for. Altough it's possible to test this out I guess.
Re: ShadowArmada
Uh, tooltips.Zpock wrote:Detailed weapons descriptions are what I was thinking of. For example it would be very useful to know exactly how all the stun weapons and movement hindering weapons work, IE how many turns they are for. Altough it's possible to test this out I guess.
values are in steps (there's 11 steps a turn, I think, count the white missiles in the queue). An EMP weapon lasting an entire turn would be... way overpowered.
Most weapons show what they do once you queue them up, and you can unqueue them. Use of that (slightly bugged) display and tooltips should help you figure out most weapons.
Edit: Hmm, two new weapons I haven't heard of. walt really should've given them seperate icons though.
Re: ShadowArmada
Shadow Armada, eh?
And so it begins ~.~
And so it begins ~.~
Re: ShadowArmada
Ah the number in paranthesis is how many steps it stops the target. Most are 5 steps so you need to time them to hit at the end of a turn so he can't move on his next. Some are 1-2 steps so should be timed at the beginning of a turn, and the solar missile stuns for 17 steps... but doesnt regen itself.
Re: ShadowArmada
You dont need a stuning weapon then the enemy is front of you, thats then you will be able to unload your arsenal upon him :) I like to use stuning weapons to slow down the enemy then im manouvering to face him or then other ship can do so.
Re: ShadowArmada
Or you can just hit him in the start of the turn and he can't move in that turn. He still can fire weapons in any case though.Zpock wrote:Ah the number in paranthesis is how many steps it stops the target. Usually, you do, as the emp wave thing is the most effective anti missile weapon, and it is a stun weapon as well.manored wrote: You dont need a stuning weapon then the enemy is front of you,
Re: ShadowArmada
Actual shields are more effective as they protect you from anything and last longer, tough your own shots are blocked by it. There is also flak wich works better than emp if all missiles are coming from the same place since if you miss the timing of the emp wave the missile might reach after it and hit you.
What I meant is that you dont usually need to stun a enemy in front of you. If he is in front of you and the emp wave reaches him then you should toggle on invencibility and shot like hell :)

Re: ShadowArmada
flak? chaff shots? if so, those do have quite the chance of missing and won't deal with multiple shots very well. They're not ususally something you stock up on either.
shields? if you are talking about actual shields, piercing weapons = you dead.
If you're talking about shield waves, they require a distance you often don't have between you and the enemy. They're the best choices in that scenario sure.
Edit: ugh, walt must done another of those nerf everything patches since I stopped playing
Edit 2: what, cores weren't ever too cheap. piercing weapons were overpowered as is, imo.
Edit 3: ooh, I see, he made the default ship cost 100000
Edit 4: still no default sudden death
Edit 5: oh god, he still left the shitty ralkanoth thing in, but now the difference is good players are abusing it like hell. ugh.
Edit 6: hmm, I should still be able to come up with a good ralkanoth killer ship.

Re: ShadowArmada
flak is compact enough to not miss (At least never missed), and its really nice to use then you arent sure if the enemy is gonna shot or not :) In case you are being swarmed by missiles from all sides the best is to use the shield wave or pig pen if you have one.
Re: ShadowArmada
yeah, but none of those weapons are any good in close range fights, where emps are the only way to go. If you don't stun the enemy, he'll be launching just as much missiles as you will be. Maybe he'll throw in a few weapon types that aren't missiles and as such not blockable too.
Re: ShadowArmada
If you are looking the enemy straigh in the eyes, the best thing is to use invencibility and nuke it out :) in case you dont have and dont want trade 1 ship for 1 ship then you should use a shield wave, as they block anything. I dont see how a emp wave would be specially usefull in that situation as you and the enemy would have to be really close for it to work, like, coliding already. If you werent looking into his eyes then it is in fact usefull to keep in still while you manuever.
